PAF denies reports about Pakistan interested in buying F-35.

@DavidSling
5th Gen - Pilot = 6th Gen :P
A sixth-generation jet fighter is a conceptualized class of fighter aircraft design more advanced than the fifth-generation jet fighters which are currently in service in the United States and in development in other countries. The United States Air Force and United States Navy are anticipated to field their first sixth-generation fighters in the 2025–30 time frame.[1] The USAF is pursuing development and acquisition of a sixth-generation fighter through the F-X program to replace the F-22 Raptor, and the U.S. Navy is pursuing a similar program called the Next Generation Air Dominance to replace the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet.[2]

the determination of a 6 gen airplane isn't yet clear, as u can see in the link above, many suggestions has been made

.
6th gen won't be radically different than current 5th gen.
5th gen
+
Pilotless
+
360 degree radar and Electro Optics
+
Advanced EW, ECM and ECCM
+
Self destruction (in case of crash or hack over over hostile land)
= 6th Gen

Air chief Sohail Aman says Pakistan has no interest in buying F-35. All media reports in this regard are just "Bad journalism ". PAF is looking for 5th Generation fighter jets but not F-35.

Thank God.

Never buy American again.

.
yes PAF will have F-35 sure in 2042 when USA will store them and after 5 years pakistan will ask few F-35 from AMRAG storage  wait till first f-35 reached amrag

Pakistan should not buy from the US. There is way too much uncertainty with them. The question arises will they keep their promises or will they betray us when they get the chance. This has been happening for a long time-we running after the US and them giviong us nothing in return

why would the PAF be not interested in F-35 ? availability and affordability are other issues

the french are working on a 6th gen fighter and skipping the 5th gen completely. whilst we are working on a 6th gen fighter too, as we figured the f35 can't do what the typhoon can do. Boeing and lockheed are working on their own proposals for the pentagon to evaluate them for the f-x program. china is no where near able to start on 6th gen fighters, possibly they may be working on concepts and what features it needs. Russia is working on a 6th gen fighter.

pakistan has figured out that the traditional full scale wars are a thing of the past and therefore does not worry too much on its offensive capability. todays launch of the shaheen 3 proves that Pakistan is only interested in deterrence and not to make pointless weapons. as its range is just enough to reach all of india and its islands, and Israel too.

in terms of number of a potential 5th gen fighter for Pakistan. now some of your f16's are old and are from the 1980's and need to replaced in about 10 years and the number of high end fighters (f16's) is about 76. Pakistan wanted 110 f16's [6 squadrons of 18 with 2 spare] now most likely they will get a like for like replacement. or they may get a go for an addition squadron or reduce the size by a squadron.

what else is going to replace them....???
The F-16 problem isn't anything new, PAF has known for a while that they'll need to be replaced soon, but right now, it can't afford to do so. PAF (I believe) is currently shopping for more second hand F-16s that it can send to Turkey for upgradation, until it can afford to buy a 5th gen, last year's purchase of F-16s from Jordan strengthens my belief.

As for the sixth gen, the nations working on sixth gen probably won't see them in large numbers for a long time, and may not even be inducted until at least 2040-50.

there a few f16s out there norway is getting rid of their f16's which are to be replaced with f35's. also the the belgian air force and the danish too are getting rid of theirs too. i thing my numbers are right in terms of numbers of the amount of the j31-tfx

the 6th gen fighters are to be in flight tests about 2025 being the minimum

F-35 is a failure in its intended role. A single platform was called to do too much tasks which it cannot match lost to a F-16 in dogfight doesn't have the energy to maneuver, wing are small for its weight, loses it stealth when loaded for combat whats the point of such an expensive jet. Instead get 2 F-16 with modern avionics and take down the enemy jets and still go to bomb Tali caves.
