PAF and Next Generation Fighter Program Confirmed

Com on guys J-2X will be twin engine medium fighter it won,t be heavy fighter but its twin engine fighter there is no prototype now but soon in future and the other prototype that your are looking at might belong to JF-17 Block 2/3 so people relaxse that pic is not coming soon or if its comes out then you cannot confirm it that untill the real prototype flys first let the JF-17 block 2 come then after compelting batch then we can think about that J-2X

Twin-engined? Wow, I thought PAF prefers single engined ones.
 
China agree to give J-20/FC-20 5th Generation Stealth Fighter to Pakistan" Ahmad Mukhtar Pakistani Defence Minister Said after returning from China.

The J-20 is a single-seat, twin-engine aircraft, bigger and heavier than the Sukhoi T-50 and the F-22. Comparison with ground-service vehicles points to an overall length of 75 ft. and a wingspan of 45 ft. or more, which would suggest a takeoff weight in the 75,000-80,000-lb. class with no external load. That in turn implies a generous internal fuel capacity. The overall length is close to that of the 1960s General Dynamics F-111, which carries 34,000 lb. of fuel.

The J-20 has a canard delta layout (like Chengdu’s J-10) with two canted, all-moving vertical stabilizers (like the T-50) and smaller canted ventral fins. The stealth body shaping is similar to that of the F-22. The flat body sides are aligned with the canted tails, the wing-body junction is clean, and there is a sharp chine line around the forward fuselage. The cant angles are greater than they are on the Lockheed Martin F-35, and the frameless canopy is similar to that of the F-22.

The engines are most likely members of the Russian Saturn AL-31F family, also used on the J-10. The production version will require yet-to-mature indigenous engines. The inlets use diverterless supersonic inlet (DSI) technology, first adopted for the F-35 but also used by Chengdu on the J-10B—the newest version of the J-10—and the Sino-Pakistani JF-17 Thunder.

this is a relatively old article. the latest news suggest that PAF is more intrested in a specially designed version (probably JXX) that will be single engine and will be more suitable for PAF.
we may see a couple of squadrons of J-20 later!

If we do have that then why do we need J-20? Customized variant yes, but dedicated variant development, i think no.

TAIPEI - China may have test-flown the J-18 Red Eagle vertical short takeoff and landing (VSTOL) fighter earlier this month, if chatter on Chinese-language military blogs is accurate.

China's defense industry is largely opaque and it is difficult to substantiate Internet chatter. However, Chinese-language military blogs reported the first test flight of the stealthy J-20 Black Eagle fighter in January, much to the surprise of the Western media.

Now there are reports emerging of a test flight of the J-18. Tests were supposedly conducted earlier this month and the fighter is similar to the Sukhoi Su-33 carrier-based fighter.

"In 2005, a Chinese aviation industry source told me the Chengdu Aircraft Corporation was considering a F-35B-like program," said Richard Fisher, vice president of the Washington-based International Assessment and Strategy Center. "Given the PLA's naval power projection ambitions, it is probable there is VSTOL or STOVL [short takeoff and vertical landing] fighter program."

There are "many alleged programs in the Chinese blogosphere," Fisher said.

These include a J-16 built by the Shenyang Aircraft Corporation (SAC), which is a stealthier dedicated attack version of the J-11B (Su-27) multirole fighter with active electronically scanned array radar and an internal weapons bay, which will "reportedly emerge this summer," he said.

China is expected to begin sea trials for its first aircraft carrier this summer. Analysts believe the J-15 Flying Shark, a copy of the Sukhoi Su-33, will be China's first carrier-based fighter. SAC procured an earlier prototype of the Su-33 from the Ukraine in 2001 and the J-15 reportedly conducted its first test flight in mid-2009.

There have also been questionable Chinese-language military blogs providing sketchy reporting on J-17 and J-19 fighter programs. Reportedly, the J-17 is long-range fighter-bomber based on the Russian Sukhoi Su-34 and the J-19 is a heavy multirole fighter based on the J-11B.

I think no more new jet before 2019 as per modernization program of PAF.
 
J2x is still in design phase, real pics are not available.It will take long time to be reveal.
We are still waiting for JF17-block-2 and J-10B to be delivered.So wait couple of years for J2X.
 
something is better than nothing
paf have only 1 option of stealth jet which is base on Chinese technology
western stealth is out of range like USA f-35 and Russian t-50
f-35 will be available in 2025

pakfa will be a dream for paf due to Russian
i think we can't get f-35 due to technology transfer thread of usa
 
Any economy with a GDP of only $180billion should never ever think of spending so much money to get 5th Gen jets imo.

The matter is not that of money, but operational requirments. If operational requirements of PAF warrented a 5th Gen, It will certainly have a go at the new generation. Nothing to be related to 180 Billion economy or not...its just a simple thing, no rocket science i guess.
