One missing link in the story, How could they ask Indian army for dead soldiers uniforms, and how can Indian army soldiers mock them for young age while they were fighting them. Were they captured by Indian Army at that time?
Or was the bad blood between Indians and Pakistanis wasn't that bad due to just recent split of British Indian army and the Mutual Respect Feeling was still present in the armies compared to the hatred that had seeped in the civil society at that time based on Nationalism and Religion?

this story is from 1947/48 war, hostilities were not that much back in the day....even we were very lenient on them.

The fact that they were able to stay behind the enemy line for that long is more then enough.
You should consider 1> time line what sort of weapon used in 1947 2> terrain holding a higher ground & harsh winter & honestly i don't think 1947 indian army has mountaineering skill compared to locals.

these people did defeat Dogra forces to be more accurate wipe out whole Dogra Army.
