And I take it you're going to the reimburse the cinema and DVD industry worth billions of rupees ? They're barely going to feel the effect but it'll be shooting ourselves in our foot. Us 'liberals" fortunately have the ability to see past ourselves and see the bigger picture.

There is no "war" as per say. They kill our soldiers at the LOC and then we return the favor. And guess what ? Millions worth of trade still happens between the country each day. Same for Afghanistan. Should we shut that down too ? Also the US is responsible for the misery and death of millions of Muslims , let's break all relations with them too. Let's just become North Korea. Instead of working towards negotitations and peaceful agreements the conservative approach is to simply ban. Youd be pushing an already im the ground country and economy into more isolation. As for your suggestion I agree , but then where exactly do we draw the line on "behaya" ?

This reaction is typical of the Pakistan. Endless hours of bakwas is available on hundreds of different channels in our country - not a problem. For the film board the line is drawn at periods.

It's also typical of Pakistani liberal. They'll watch anything the twittersphere tells them to watch, even a movie about periods. I think a n a l polyps are a big issue in Pakistan. People eat overly spicy food, end up with ibs and eventually get polyps. Lets make a movie about how they struggle to sit down, how they apply the cream, how non spicy food is hard to find....

i bet if that film was made by a liberal in India, our lot would be throwing themselves at the cinemas for a chance to watch it.

To be fair that there have been overreactions from both ends. Yes the film is about a not so comfortable topic, there's doubt about it. I hope I never come across it on TV and yes it certainly will raise some awkward moments for parents. Unfortunately it got mixed up as some sort of sex end video when its actually just a movie about a guy who created a cheap alternative for sanitary pads and promoted hygiene in his village. They could've just released it as an adults only film if there was such an issue.

The conservative side of the argument (such as some fellows on this thread) turned the movie into some supposed Pak vs India jihad. They think by banning this movie Modi will lay down his arms and hand over Kashmir. According to many of them its better to shut down and ban things rather than at least addressing them (this is exactly how you create social stigmas).

The liberal side (and liberalism as a whole in Pakistan) is very misunderstood and often generalised, it is for some reason associated with transforming Pakistan into America and all of them are considered Indian agents. Ironically I saw "liberals" (the quotations because these people are in reality just bandwagoners) advocating more for this movie than they have ever pushed for actual liberal values such as freedom of speech and equal rights among all. This is to be expected ofcoursr because this is a new concept in our country.

In short the earth is still spinning and we have other much bigger issues to face.

These kind of issues which girl face in our society it's never the father who educate their daughters about this it always the mother or the elder sister or some other women in the family. Same wise boys are taught by their fathers mostly about these issues or some other male or they get to know from friends but Mom don't do it and you want this to be shown in cinema halls in were both Men and Women are sitting no Sir we don't tolerate this kind of crap in society.
