Overseas Pakistanis’ are playing the vital role in Pakistan’s economy. All Pakistani expatriates are serving Pakistan in enriching its economy. Question is, how they serve with living abroad? According to a research, in 2014, through home remittance overseas Pakistani added $17 billions to its foreign exchange. Which makes the 6 percent of Pakistan’s over all GDP. Significantly, helps the economy. Additionally, standard of lives of 100,00 are ameliorating with the remittance they received. Moreover, Overseas Pakistani are majorly contributing to enhance and increase the investment standards for the development of business, industries, infrastructure and physical capital of Pakistan. Further, they are even helping to improve the political awareness of people of Pakistan by providing their views and experiences on comparative political and social systems of the respective host countries.
Many people in Pakistan even raise the question, that they send money to their family. They are not favoring Pakistani. Sure! They do not only send money to family, but support many schools financially, send charities, university research facilities, many sponsor underprivileged students, finance micro-businesses, and NGO’s. Even they send Zakat to Pakistan rather giving to the masjids here. Just so they can help someone in their motherland.
These Pakistanis are really proud of their motherland. Also, take the pride with contributing for its betterment. They expect nothing but the same from the people of Pakistan and government. Unfortunately, not happening. They are not even allowed to participate in electoral process. So infelicitous, even after the law was passed by Supreme Court to arrange voting facilities for overseas Pakistanis’, no effort is seen by the previous government and/or sitting government. Almost all of the Pakistanis have their NICOP cards. And many are computer literate. Now the question is, is it that hard to arrange the online voting for overseas Pakistanis? Why election commission of Pakistan is not paying a coin of attention to this matter? Millions of Pakistanis want to use their right to vote. Ok if you find it hard to arrange the online voting, let’s start psychical voting in Pakistani embassies and consulates. Who is gonna take the initiate? Who is going to look over this matter? Money from overseas Pakistani is good but not the vote?
Now let's come to the point where even Pakistanis don't want overseas Pakistani to utter their thoughts about Pakistan and its government. Just because they are not in Pakistan? Why is that? Is it a crime or haram to have dual nationality. Even the last messenger of Allah was migrated to Madina.
It's completely fine in Islam to make a Hijra (migration) to seek opportunities or better life.
Just moving from one country to another, takes your rights away? While living in Pakistan it's completely fine to break the laws. But even after contributing so much in Pakistan’s betterment, they can't express their thoughts? Why their loyalties with Pakistan are judged? Many Pakistanis are living with the mindset of going back one day and serving Pakistan. Some are waiting to get a degree and to go back. Some are working so hard to develop a business in Pakistan and hoping to go back on day. Even though, they have much more opportunities to avail there. Yet, they prefer to have a good life in Pakistan over to have a best life in abroad. The only expectation they have from the people and government is to get treated with respect and dignity. They are tremendously proud to be Pakistani and take pride in helping Pakistan economically.
