The fact is that the selection process is very strict.
The armed forces are considered to be one of the best jobs in india.

i am surprised at this, i assumed that india would be like china in this regard, in china they have way more volunteers than thy need. and i don't think its because the requirements are stricter in india than anywhere else in fact the opposite should be true, if one has more people than they need then they can afford to choose from the masses if one need people they they will loosen the requirements

Actually the shortage is not of soldiers the shortage is for qualified men like graduates. men of the officer rank.

Remember Darwin's "law the fittest survive" no matter what life just finds a way to sustain itself but things will become very difficult for all that's for sure.

we are democracy. people decide how many child they want NOT some dictator political party. Only 'educating' people can solve this problem,and we are working on it.

couple of weeks ago there was a news CONSTANTLY on NDTV that 60 MILLION TONNS of food grain went waste only in Punjab.... 60 Million tonns that is... eaten by rats etc , the rest discarded...
so how can U say there is quarrel between Indian states for food grain??
