What's new

Over 50% families can’t have two meals a day

Guys, lets not assign/imply blame exclusively as usual. The problem come from institutional deficiency (region suffers from this more broadly) past simple leadership.

This is very key thing Pakistan need to address here:

He stressed the importance of a proper diet during pregnancy, urging expecting mothers to realise that what they eat is transferred directly to their children.

There must be especially rural education program and outreach for all women there of child bearing age. Specific subsidy for nutritious food as soon as they get pregnant maybe can be looked at?
To solve a problem you have to identify it, this is not something we can fix in a day or two. Now the positives are that the current government is aware of the issue, especially the way IK stresses the need to help poors, for now take the hard economic measures, help them where possible with government shelters. I think this shelter idea is great and very helpful. I would say we need to spread awareness and we'd help half the poor people like that. Zakat and other donations need to be used properly.
Again for now fix economy and educate the poors child, the rest will follow.

Naya Pakistan Riasat e Medina
Is this your way of critisizing or you need to taunt PTI by using Riasat e Medina.
it suppose to happen either now or in 10 years choice we had.. after all we have borrowed money from other countries which we have to pay so the measurement they taking is best.
indian whos share this artical of malnutrition in Pakistan have no idea about his own country the country with no toilets forget about place to live or eat. a country which is dangerous for women and minorities.
my question is how long it takes generation to be malnutrition i guess it doesnt happen in 1 year so lets not make fun of Riast e madina and talk about who you support what they have done to this nation any thoughts?

You only have to read through this thread to see why our people are going hungry.

Patwaris and Jiyalas interested only in defending their gods. PTI supporters doing the same.

Six pages, not a single solution offered.

Let me offer a solution.

1. Free school meals. Give every child a free school meal. It doesn't have to be lavish, it should be nutrishious. It will also ensure more poor children attend school. It should include a balanced diet.

2. Free Multi-vitamin tablets to pregnant and breast feeding women.

If we can afford to pay for langar at darbars, lavish feasts for our walimas, and feeding the masses during Mawlid, we can afford to feed our children 1 meal a day.

====
Just to clarify my point, i don't think we should be using charity to cover these costs, i think we should be paying taxes and the state should be using those taxes to cover these costs.

I supported PTI and they've destroyed this country.

Everywhere i go, inflation, poverty, businesses closing down, jobless people, shitty paying jobs.

Imran Kutta did it in 1 year with his incompetence and corruption. Even Asad Umar disagrees with IK and bashed his policies.

My Pakistan was a lot better even 1 year ago before i voted for this Kutta.

Go and ask any Pakistan on the streets in the poor to middle class, they will say Imran is a kutta.

Pakistan will be worse than African shitholes after 4 years at the rate IK is destroying it.

Why the hell would we, the common Pakistanis offer solutions?

The government took taxes from us now it is their responsibility to spend that tax money where it should be spent not on their lavish lifestyles.

Just nonsense.

Imran Khan is taxing the soul of Pakistanis unlike any government before and yet his supporters have the audacity to tell us to give solutions?

What are we, a bunch of idiots?

Taxes are Amanat not bank balances for Jehangir Khan Tareen, the PPP dirt.

But if Imran Khan is this useless as a person, give the power to someone else who has solutions.

I would expect nothing more from you. Your education reflects these limitations in your mindset. Your only purpose on this forum is to spread anti Imran Khan messages, messages you're likely being paid to spread.

Government is merely an administrative function - in real societies, it is the people who are the most powerful and most important entity. People advocate ideas - they expect government to listen and implement them.

On a very small platform, i tried to advocate 2 ideas to help our current situation. All you have done is try to paint this as a problem that has occured in the last 12 months.

The report is here to read - https://www.unicef.org/pakistan/media/1951/file/Final Key Findings Report 2019.pdf

Both my solutions are cost effective and if implemented, could turn these figures around in 4 or 5 years time.

I don't know about other societies but in Islamic countries which Pakistan claims to be, government is held accountable for the well-being of its people and solutions to problems. The people wouldn't be questioned for the harami pan of government.

In Pakistan, people are cockroaches. If people had any power then Imran Khan would've tried to fulfill his promises. But he doesn't give a crap and adds insult to the injury by saying breaking promises is a sign of great leadership.

In 12 months, IK has broken records of the extortion government does. Now where is the result of that extortion?

My job as a citizen is to abide the law. That's all. And point out faults of the government which i am. Once again, if Imran Khan is so incompetent and moron that he doesn't know how to run the country then he should go back to his mansion.

Why didn't you provide solutions to previous governments?

As for me being a paid agent, i must be doing a bad job because i bash all parties equally.

And the solution to Pakistan problem is simple. Hang Jehangir Khan Tareen, Pervaiz Khattack, PPP dirt, Nawaz Sharif, Zardari then and only then will Pakistan prosper. Then the public won't need to give solutions.

Only a dumb moron would think JKT and PPP dirt will bring tabdeeli.

Like Zardari said go and jail Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, his accomplice, he will spill where the money is hidden.

Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, the economic hitman is going to run the finances of the country. Hahaha. Like a rapist is tasked with protecting a young beautiful girl.

There we go again, complaining about PTI, laying bait, but i won't take your bait. I have too much self respect and too much concern for the starving children of Pakistan to join in your political games.

We all know who has looted the country, the courts have proven it and the people proved it by voting in an alternative. In 4 years time they shall pass verdict on the alternative too.

Why didn't you provide solutions to previous governments?

Read my previous posts. I've been suggesting positive ideas for years and years on this forum, and decades on other forums before this.

Rise in food production is the best way to deal with the problem. Produce fruit, grains, false and vegetables in abundance. Problem will ease.

Zakat, and then we have Pakistan bait-ul-maal too. Which support those families that earn less then 10000/month. My uncle also work for baitulmaal (voluntair service) where he recieve Payments of 3000-5000 for each poor person and he then distribute that money among registered persons with bait ul maal. Only in our village of some 800 houses he distribute some 80 envelops. Apart from that, It give scholarships to poor students in all universities of Pakistan. Along that, bait ul maal also support poor and disabled in other ways. One of its initiative is sweet homes for childrens where poor childrens study and live. Then they provide residence to poor families. Help disabled those who can’t buy wheel chairs it give them wheel chairs. Then we have worker welfare bord (WWB) theough which industries pay college/university fees of its workers kids (doesn’t katter how many kids he have). So basically 40% help to poor come from bait ul maal, 40% from zakat, and other 20% from other means like khairat, atyaat etc.. other then that, we have concept of hujra in KP which is called “dheera” in Sindh and Punjab. Not aware of Punjab and sindh but in KP travelers and those (lone travelers) who came from other places and have no means stay in hujras where either a single family took his respnsibility or the responsibility is shared by the whole street which means 3 times meal a day and some financial help like say 50-100 Rs after 2-3 days. So add all these things and then add the “shukr Alhamdulillah” to it and you have no poor in Pakistan. Even if someone is poor and a surveyor ask him are you poor ? Dont you get food ? He will most probably say “no i get food. Shukr Alhamdulillah my Allah give me food”. What next ??
But this doesn’t mean malnutrition is an alien word to Pakistan. As IK said in one of his speech that 40% of our kids suffer from malnutrition. The solution is proper diet.

It just depend on the definition of poverty in the end. Giving a man to fish versus teaching him to fish etc.

I doubt this whole survey.Seems like after new Govt took over these kind of surveys are coming out, one after another, seems like case of missing lifafa to me.
50% is too high,it's around 35% today.
Although there should be no complacency until we have zero poverty but the report figures are highly suspect. In the areas of Pakistan I have travelled I certainly did NOT see this level of poverty. Indeed obesity seems to be issue amongst Pakistanis. That said there are pockets in interior Sindh and Thar that have extreme poverty.

Absolutely agree with you. Then we have the largest and most robust welfare programme iin South Asia - BISP. This is over $1 billion cash transfer to the poor.

"A poverty-targeted cash transfer, the BISP provides a [Rs5,000 per family per month] regular stipend to over five million families. In line with the BISP’s goal of promoting women’s empowerment, the quarterly transfer is paid directly to the female head of the family, aiming to alleviate the effects of food price inflation and other unexpected cost increases on the poorest and most vulnerable households"
