Army act doesn't apply to civilians. Read 21-D of the act. Further constitution point 10 also forbids.

So while I understand the rationale being used, had this been PTI's rule and PDM had resorted to riots, I believe IK's government would have gone after the arsonists/rioters as well.

And if the same sort of heavy handed tactics and blatant violation of the law was undertaken, I would have said that the response by PDM would have been completely justified.

Secondly, I think we all can agree that right now, it is not the PDM government that is in charge, it is the estab. No ASI or SP has enough balls to openly defy court orders and arrest or kidnap civilians and employ such tactics.

Pakistani nation must learn from everything that has happened.

We need to get rid of this bloated 700000 sized standing army. Bring a mandatory national service every man of 18 serves 3 years. The permanent military should only including officers, specialist, special forces and a smaller standing force. This would cut these megalomaniacs to their true aukat. Right now they are raping the entire country because they know they have 700000 soldiers who will dance to their tunes.


ISI must goes to Civilians or the very least should be rotated between Airforce and Navy. Ground forces officers must be banned from holding any significant position within ISI. This way we will have an independent organization not subservient to the whishes of army commanders.

Totally agree. The US military is professional force + conscription recruit during large wars like WWII. There is no question of civilian supremacy as many Presidents, Senators, Congress members have served in the military. Furthermore the Chief of Army Staff has no operational control of the army and serves as an advisor. The President is the Commander in Chief.

The Israeli military has mandatory service, so the whole country has served with exception of Rabbis.

ISI needs to be removed from the military. Not only because of misuse, but also because military recruits running the agency lack the intellectual capacity to compete with western agencies which are run by the brightest minds from the best universities like MIT, Stanford, Ivy League schools. Do you think a matric pass running the agency has any business sitting across the table from a PhD from Princeton with global satellite & electronic surveillance at his disposal?

After putting pressure on him through the Army act on 9th May disturbance, arson, mass arrests, looking for IK to budge and accept their tor's.
