Opposition Rally in Dhaka - Potential Turning Point in Bangladesh

being a canadian I believe you know about Punjab a little.

Punjab shares Border with Pakistan...........and many battles have been fought at this border.
Anti-Indian sentiments runs high in Pakistani Population thanks to the their leaders ...........who used threat of evil India to rule over their country..........

Now what is BNP trying to do............same thing.

And by the love of the god....................No way I would like to see another hostile nation near our borders.

Listen troll, this rally has nothing to do with India. Paranoid Hasina sensing defeat in the next elction has scrapped the interim Care taker Gov system. Care taker system allows election to be held under an impartial gov and all our national elections since 1990 were held under this system. But your stooge Hasina wants to personally conduct the next election so that she can do vote rigging. Every soingle political party including
Hasina's allies want the care taker system to be restorated. This rally by BNP is to
demand the restoration of the care taker system and has nothing to do with your supa pawa country.

Kobirazz how's the rally going. I live nearby and can see the mass gathering from the roof top. This could easily have spanned the
whole city had it not been for all the restrictions put by BAL. Hasina has already made the rally a success by cutting off DHAKA
from the whole country.

Repeat My Question: Do Bagladeshis feel Khalida Zia is bettter then Hasina Wajid ?

If yes, any reasons ?
Yes. Khaleda Zia is most popular leader in Bangladesh. Though her Popularity took a blow 3-4 years ago due to RAW corruption propaganda against her Son...... it took only three years to recover... I can clearly see at present Hasina is nothing to Khaleda in terms of popularity...... Though neutral people of Bangladesh have a tendency to curse both, Khaleda is obviously in better position than Hasina.... It is actually ' india-BSF' which is responsible for Hasina's downfall..

BBC News - Bangladesh braced for mass rally

Thousands of police and soldiers are patrolling the streets of Bangladesh's capital, Dhaka, ahead of a major anti-government rally.

Schools and shops were closed as crowds of Bangladeshi opposition supporters gathered in Dhaka.

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) says hundreds of its members have already been arrested.

The BNP wants the government to step down and hold new elections under a neutral caretaker administration.

The ruling Awami League has already rejected the idea. The next national election is due to be held by early 2014.

Under the previous system, at the end of an elected government's term, a caretaker administration would take over to ensure that elections were conducted in an impartial manner.

The BNP believes elections overseen by the incumbent government would not be free or fair and has said it will not take part in the next elections if the caretaker government system is not restored.

Arrests
At least 15,000 policemen and border guards had been deployed in the capital, Dhaka's deputy police commissioner told the AFP news agency.

The BNP says hundreds of their supporters have been arrested in the last few days all across the country.

It also accused the government of preventing many more from joining the rally by cancelling bus and ferry services to Dhaka

But Dhaka police denied to AFP that any arrests were to do with the rally. The government says it is only taking precautionary measures to prevent any violence during the rally.

The BBC's Ethirajan Anbarasan in Dhaka cites fears that the rally could trigger more anti-government protests affecting the uneasy political peace of recent years.

Some warn that the political turmoil could threaten the country's already weak economy and drive away investors.
