Opinion: The time for equivocating about a nuclear-armed, Taliban-friendly Pakistan is over

John Bolton is a neocon so his reaction is expected.

And they have been saying this for the past 20 years. "What if nukes get into the wrong hands" has been repeated over and over again.

There is a theory out there that USA wants Pakistan to sort of manage Afghanistan through the Taliban in such a way that no international terrorists can take a foothold again. This would be a far cheaper and safer option for Americans who would now be able to concentrate on the Pacific theater. If this theory prevails then expect Pakistan to be given a lot of importance instead of being sanctioned. Perhaps the so-called Quad with Uzebekistan, Pakistan, Afghanistan and USA is a harbinger of that.
This is far more dangerous and no way will any sensible Pakistani government ever agree to that. If the americans with their billions of dollars along with NATO could not manage Afghanistan, how would Pakistan? Besides even if we do has anyone thought about the ramifications of such God for bid if a terror attack does takes place in the west originating from Afghanistan? All guns will then turn towards us.
So thanks but no thanks.

Well, I wished a wall as tall as the K-2 and as deep as the Mariana Trench could be built between Pakistan and Afghanistan but no wall like that can be built. Pakistan is condemned to be a 'player' in Afghanistan. So, as much I don't want Pakistan to be involved, Pakistan will get involved in probably the most enhanced way than most other countries.
BTW, past failures are not always a guarantee for future failures.

😂 Groups are arrested in India for nuclear material smuggling but it's Pakistan to blame. What if India will help ISK with nuclear weapons given their relations and close dealings? If big players can arrange blast at Kabul Airport and we see someone about to leak British Embassy emails to their contacts in Afghanistan to urge people to reach or gather at particular point, no one should turn a blind eye as to which level they can stoop. Pakistan will have to fight the way out.
