Opinion: Pakistan must become an authoritarian state to progress

.
So how is democracy working for Pakistan? Karachi is like a filth. Economy almost default on debts and all thanks to generous loan from friendly nation,Pakistan survive.
You know nothing of the type of democracy we have. This is also not the area of expertise. So better to keep yourself out of it.

Just to give you a flavour, in last 30 years the democratic government we had in the form of PMLN was created in 80s by then army chief Zia ul Haq and he use to call Nawaz Shrief his son.

Bhutto family was also introduced in politics by Ayub Khan (Chief Marshal Law administrator) and his family is still rulling some part of Pakistan. TOgather with military ruler of 1970 bhutto and military is responsible for breakup of Pakistan in 1971.

Asif Ali Zardari is a common criminal and came into power in 2007 as a deal between military chief Musharaf and Zardari as a result of which his all criminal cases (including murder) were closed.

More than 50% of parliament is selected by military personnel and hence military is responsible for mess created by politicians.

. .
Authoritarian rule has its share of problems as well. Recently we r getting blind by china's success but there r too many failures of authoritarian rules to ignore. For example iraq, iran, gulf states. Take the oil out of them and they will disolve within a year.

Who will guarantee that supreme leader will be working for interest of the nation.

Imagine someone like zardari or north koreas leader comes to power ...

Infact if u study deep a lot of problems are due to interventions in democracy. Sharief zardari altaf all are gift of armed forces and were never a true leaders. They were created to keep politicians fighting with each other.
Even today we see bilawal now being prepared ...lack of accountibility is the issue..do you think army didnt take its cut in all this lootmaar

Suerly they do. Thats why they never let the cases closed. One single testimony of Uzair Balock could have destroyed half of PPP for the good but they didnt do it.

That is what I said. Communism works for China because it has different dynamics (social/religious/education etc). It has a better educated working class for one, a nationalist government (Pakistan's politicians are narcissistic imbeciles). No faults along religious lines as compare to Pakistan which has a religion living under every rock you turn over.

Pakistan is nowhere near the factors that needs this to work. The OP asserting that the military works better hasn't taken into account how corrupt the Pakistani military actually is (not debating their management structure / work ethic and keeping in mind different scams; most recent being the Fazaia Housing Scheme Karachi.).

I can say Pakistan should change its parliamentary system and become Presidential so democracy can still be implemented while having stronger government. Indonesia also changes its parliamentary system during our reformation period (1998-2004) after our first democratic government under parliamentary system fall during Abdurahman Wahid administration (1999-2002). Understanding the need to have strong government under democratic system, we change the parliamentary system and this move also enable us to have direct Presidential election starting in 2004.

Parliamentary system will create weak government just like how British has to make so many elections during the past 2 years alone. Other example of political situation in Israel which face so many political death lock and create many elections within 1-2 years period. Malaysia also faces similar problem now after their UMNO party elites break out from the party and set up another parties.

Authoritarian has its negative side and it can be very very bad. You must know how damage China is during Cultural Revolution. Despite good economic growth for the past 30 years, after China politics is getting more sane and get rid communism and its cultural revolution policy, there will be no way challenging CCP if you dont want to be in prison.

They will also try to implement social credit system across the country with Beijing as a pilot project. There is no press and personal freedom as well.

There are also many authoritarian ruler become crazy like Saddam Hussein, Kim family in North Korea who destroy their own country by reckless policy, and many others in Middle East who killed many of their people like happening in Egypt and Algeria.

And this is our economy after embracing democracy in 1998. Although our currency lose its value from 2000 Rupiah per USD (before 2017) into 10.000 Rupiah-13.000 Rupiah per USD, due to Asian Financial Crisis that hit my country so badly, you can still see huge increase on our nominal GDP after we embrace democracy.

I posted this in the Musharraf thread but I'm gonna post it here too

Pakistan needs to be ruled by the military and it has always been better this way. Military knows how to run this country with an iron fist and that is when Pakistan as a nation will progress.

Democracy only works in countries where your population is intelligent enough to make sensible decisions. If your awaam is foolish and easily manipulated, democracy is a like a bomb waiting to go off. Putting decisions in the hands of your foolish awaam will ruin your nation and criminals will loot a weak democracy and corrupt it to the core. Politicians are so busy trying to gain power for themselves that they will make up fake scandals to create opposition. These criminal politicians will do everything they can to prevent, block, and slow down the gov't from implementing obvious and basic reforms that will help the nation. Democracy in Pakistan is a curse that will hold this nation back from achieving its full potential. China would never have become China if it was a democracy.

Military should take full power of every aspect of the state of Pakistan and root out all these corrupt criminals and mafia with an iron fist.

Shoot everyone in the bhutto, sharif and zardari family.

Every transaction greater than 500Rs requires CNIC, or NTN. Every business need to register and get a proper license.

Karachi under federal rule. Hyderabad new capital of Sindh.

Hazara province.

South Punjab province. Create a new city adjacent to Multan that will act as the capital.

Spend 5% of GDP on health. Spend 5% of GDP on education.

New Pakistan requires a new constitution.

Pakistan is now a one party authoritarian state, with the government having total control.

Proceed to liquidate the old order, wipe out the political elite and acquire all their lands and buisnesses.

Televised hangings and amputations of criminals who laundered billions of rupees from the international exchequer on PTV and all the world to see.

Privatize steel mill

MRAP for soldiers on Durand line

Media ethics will be strictly enforced any journalist who is a repeat offender will get his license revoked and will do 5 years in prison

Tough action against international NGO's stepping outside their mandate

High taxes on property above a certain value

Decrease redtape for setting up business

A purge in judiciary against Iftikhar elements

Abolish feudalism

Capital Punishment for corrupt politicians and high level officials

Increase our lobbying in the Gulf, America and the EU
Aahh... What a dream......
Wish it was so simple to b painted black n white!
What about those holy cows in military who can never ever b brought to justice!!
Go n find out about the historical blunders done within the higher ranks of army which if avoided wouldn't have brought us down to where v r even compared to politicians.
I love military n I love ideology of Pakistan!
Bit I can't turn a blind eye to anyone going against the Pakistani state since its ideology is sacred! B it civilian or otherwise

Solution to our problems is not that we need a dictatorship.
Our Democratic system is messed up hotchpotch of colinial era system and modifications to it.
We have not transformed into a modern state.
Heck we cant even get rid if colonial provinces and legacy.
Get rid of provinces. Make Divisions and districts empowered.
Elected Divisional Governers with strong local bodies. Along with directly elected president having handpicked cabinet. And let us see how Pakistan is held back.
with this confused system and constitution, We cannot become developed even in 100 years. MNAs MPAs governere Country sized provinces, DCOs and ACs on district level, weak prime minister blackmailed by elected cabinet etc etc etc.
What a Hot Mess this is
Wah wah .... Jeete rahen

Which best year are you talking about man ?

Excet for Ayub military rule was disaster.

  1. We lost Bangladesh during army rule
  2. Kilashankoof culture was brought in by Zia's policy otherwise we were very peaceful country.
  3. In order to control politics ZIA brought artificial leader like Sharif into power.
  4. Musharaf is responsible for f**kup 9/11 that we had to fight for 2 decades in the name of war on terror.
the list can go on as long as you want.
Ayub did a wholesale rate bargain to pit Pakistan as a bulwark against communism & USSR in South Asia hence all the goodies started pouring in!
If there was no threat of Communism then he would also have been cursed like other dictators in our history did to lack of funds n resources no matter how much he considered himself genius n hated the civilian political class.

.
Now coming back to the Topic at hand. We need to carefully analyse the past and present of the country. Facts like;

-demographics
-Literacy
-Culture
-Religion
-Economic system and Duration of economic progress

And so forth.

One thing is certain, Western 'democracy' is NOT suited to people of Pakistan because people here are culturally, religiously, and literacy-wise different. And most important of all - Pakistan people LACK DISCIPLINE AND ORGANISATION. An example of this is the most Pakistan developed was under Ayub Khan, because there was discipline and organisation provided to the people by a Top Military Man. Another example is Singapore where a person of immense authority turned this small city into an ECONOMIC POWER HOUSE IN THIS WORLD.

So what Pakistan needs is a system that imposes Discipline and Organisation, and DEMOCRACY IS CERTAINLY NOT THAT SYSTEM.

Wo Mera mama lgta Jo us ka case ko follow karon?
If u're not from Karachi you shayad apko farq na paray but wat this bas***d did to Karachi on his Masters orders is criminal n disgusting! So yes he was closely followed by those affected in the financial capital of Pakistan.

.
To progress Pakistan should change from an Islamic state to a secular state, (religions will not solve hunger and diseases) Democratic institutions should be strengthed, esp Judiciary.
All Citizens citizens should be made to pay taxes, forget abbout seeking aid and being slave to another country, Use ur abundand natural resources rather than getting plundered by other exploiting nations.
Forget abt defeating India and always comparing with it, study its or B'desh policies and copy them if necessary.
Woah I swear this is it. I need to send this off to the Citizen Portal so IK can read this.
