I am amazed that Purelandists in PDF are actually supportive of this guy inspite of what he did to his country. Folks from any other country would be embarrassed that here is a guy who has sold his nation for Dollars in return for Terrorism, Sectarian massacres, Separatist movements and Drones, but yet is seen to be Pakistan's International representative the world over. The other discussion on the Outsider with Tim Sebastian shows how uncomfortable he is, while lying cleanly through his teeth. Of course, this sample in PDF is not representative of the saner folks back home else he would have got a rebuttal for every ill-decision he made.

Indian army chief calls leak of letter ‘high treason’

* Gen VK Singh urges ‘ruthless’ treatment of culprit

Daily Times - Leading News Resource of Pakistan

NEW DELHI: India’s army chief on Thursday said the leaking of a damning letter he wrote describing the army as unfit to fight a war was treason and urged “ruthless” treatment of the culprit.

Army Chief General VK Singh told Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the letter that India’s tanks lacked shells to fire, its air defences were out-of-date and its forces “woefully short” of weapons.

“The leakage of the letter should be treated as high treason... and sources of the leakage should be found and dealt with ruthlessly,” Singh, who is due to retire on May 31, said in a statement.

Indian Defence Minister AK Antony also slammed those responsible for releasing the letter, calling it an “anti-national” move that “only helps enemies”. Antony said at a defence trade show in New Delhi that “we will take strongest action under laws after going into the root of the leak of the army chief’s letter”.

The opposition outcry over the letter, which was splashed across the media on Wednesday, forced Antony to promise parliament that the government would do everything “necessary for the security of the nation”.

The general said in his letter, dated March 12, that India’s air defences were “97 percent obsolete” and its tank fleet was “devoid of critical ammunition to defeat enemy tanks”.

The army chief has been in a public dispute with the government over the date of his retirement and was again in the headlines earlier this week over a bribery scandal.

On Monday, Antony ordered a probe into allegations by General Singh that he had been offered a $2.8 million bribe to clear a sub-standard defence procurement deal.

The general’s insistence that he had informed Antony left the defence minister facing questions as to why there was no earlier investigation into the alleged bribe offer.

The uproar is the latest blow for Prime Minister Singh’s government, which has been paralysed by a series of graft cases, including the mis-selling of mobile phone licences estimated to have cost the treasury up to $39 billion.

India has one of the world’s largest armies, with 1.2 million active soldiers and nearly another million in reserves. Over the last many years it has emerged as one of the world’s leading defence spenders spurred by rivalries with both of its major neighbours — Pakistan and China. agencies

So how is that exactly an embarrassment ? Accepting a shortfall in our defense needs is a far cry from being embarrassed to collect the dead bodies of our soldiers claiming they were the Mujahideen and not folks from the NLI. If Pakistanis have been handed over and Pakistani sovereignty has been violated day in/day out, you can have your commando to thank for.

this guy inspite of what he did to his country? made india embarrassed?
This guy is unfortunately a puppet with the best intentions for his country. He by himself does not make this country an embarrassment ; The dynasty that controls him unfortunately is the reason for our widespread corruption. But again, this is nothing compared to what Musharraf did to his own country. If you can be proud of it, then i am indeed thankful that we can have Musharraf and his minions selling their nation for dollars in more years to come.

India-Pakistan LoC Firing: UN Body Seeks to Probe Ceasefire Violation

http://www.ibtimes.co.in/articles/4...te-ceasefire-violations-loc-pakistan-army.htm

The UN military observer group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP), an establishment of the United Nations peacekeeping mission that mediates issues concerning the dispute over Jammu and Kashmir, will launch an investigation into the ceasefire violations along the state's Line of Control (LoC).
An Indian army soldier displays a seized rocket propelled grenades launcher (RPGL) during a news conference inside a military garrison in Srinagar April 25, 2009.
Nesirky said that neither the Indian nor Pakistani military filed a complaint regarding Tuesday's incident.
Meanwhile, the US State Department is urging the two nations to take up open dialogue than third party intervention to work out the situation.

"Our view is that India and Pakistan have made pretty good progress in recent years, in working through a number of difficult issues, including opening of the trade relations, etc, that they are now engaged at a high level on these recent incidents," said State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland, PTI reported.
"If they can work it out themselves, that's obviously best. If both parties were interested in support from the UN, we'd obviously support that as well. But at the moment, we're urging them to talk to each other," she added.

The UNMOGIP is also asking both sides to resolve the tensions through the process of dialogue. "UNMOGIP is aware that the Pakistan Army and Indian Army are in contact via the hotline and urges both sides to respect the cease fire and de-escalate tensions through dialogue," said Martin Nesirky.

India shoots down Pak talk of UN probe
The Hindu : News / National : India shoots down Pak talk of UN probe
SANDEEP DIKSHIT

India has rejected Pakistan’s proposal for a United Nations (UN) probe into the chain of killings along the Line of Control (LoC) that began on Sunday morning and led to the killing of two Indian soldiers on Tuesday.

The Indian response was to a Pakistani suggestion for investigating the incidents by the UN Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) which is present on both sides of the LoC.

But high-level sources said the brutality with which the Indian soldiers were killed on Tuesday will be taken up with Pakistan through back channels. “If you stand up and start shouting, Pakistan Army will never agree. There are other ways of approaching them on the issue,” they said.

The Indian Government’s reaction came before news came of a Pakistani soldier being killed on Thursday but sources said the stand remained unchanged.

“We are certainly not going to agree to internationalise the issue or allow the UN to hold an inquiry. That demand is obviously rejected out of hand,” Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram said at a news conference after taking part in meetings of the Union Cabinet and the Cabinet Committee on Security which was briefed by Defence Minister A. K. Antony.

“We take a serious view of what happened. Whatever has to be done will be done,’’ added Mr. Chidambaram while describing the decapitation of an Indian soldier as brutal.

At another news conference, National Security Advisor Shiv Shankar Menon said there had been an increase in ceasefire violations and infiltration attempts. “In 2012 there was an increase overall over 2011. That is a fact. And that is something we are dealing with, both ourselves and with the Pakistani authorities,’’ he said.

Mr. Menon referred to Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid’s statement and said “he has made it quite clear that he is not jumping to any conclusions at this moment. So, I suggest you wait.”

Asked about the beheading of an Indian soldier, Mr. Menon said, “[the] Government has said what it has to say on the event. You have a selection of adjectives — reprehensible, barbaric, dastardly, whatever you want. Sadly, it is not the first time this has happened. I hope it never happens again. But we have also told you exactly what we intend to do. So, now I think you should let Government go about its business.”

Both India and Pakistan have denied the involvement of their troops. India has said its troops indulged in “controlled retaliatory fire” early on Sunday morning and denies Islamabad’s allegation that Indian troops crossed the LoC to kill a soldier and seriously injure another.

Similarly Pakistan denied any hand in Tuesday’s incident in which two Indian soldiers were killed whereas New Delhi says Pakistani troops crossed the LoC and utilised the poor visibility due to dense fog to ambush a patrolling party.

Separately, the army clarified in reference to The Hindu story ‘Runaway grandmother sparked savage skirmish on LoC’ that Maj. Gen. Khandare and not Maj. Gen. G.S. Rawat is currently the General Officer Commanding of 19 Infantry Division. The army also denied that any permission was ever sought by the GOC for aggressive action against any Pakistani post.

Such a caring person ... :bad:

98% of peoples voted on favour of his bold interview against indian media! In a poll on facebook!
Sama tv is just reported that!
Welldone chief!

.
If you did listened to it all then he refused to answer questions about Kargil, because that was not the subject of the discussion for which he was being interviewed.

He said if you want totalk about Kargilthen we will have to first talk about 1971 where india sponsored bengali terrorists against all genege conventions, Siachen which india occupied in violation of mutualagreements and against international law.

That idiot anchor is so irrational, illogical and irritating that no Pakistani should ever appear in his programs. I don't know where he learned his journalism from, loud mouthing is not considered "cool" among the civilized and educated.

Why so many threads ? Do you know Mushraff refused to answer few of Goswami's questions so he opted to listen. Kindly check the entire news published.

And he is a true Pakistani ? Wasn't he the one who allowed drone strikes and led his country to WoT which back fired and over 40,000 people have been killed due to it.

You call this man true Pakistani ?

If Pakistan has more such leaders, we will reduce our defense budget. :D

.
The politicians, media everyone in India have a tendency to be hysterical about everything,” Musharraf said!

WHO KNOWS THE WAY
WHO SHOWS THE WAY
WHO GOES THE WAY

Don't be a fool he is the one who authorized the use of foreign drones in the first place, all of a sudden after an interview you forget years of history? People like you make up the common voter.

Musharraf did good things for Pakistan, but he is not what you're portraying him to be.

.
political diffrences with Musharraf are there BUT his slap to the indian media is something that no one since he left has been able to do specially this PPP government.

This is what I have been saying since morning. Just because he defended PA on an Indian TV show, everyone forgot his detrimental policies against Pakistan itself.

Well done Pakistan. Welcome him back with open hearts and arms. :enjoy:
