One in five women raped in US: White House report

Indians are posting this against other countries just to hide their own rape shame.

My take on crimes against women is that we must report and condemn and should NOT shy away from admitting we are blot on face of the humanity when it comes to Crimes against women.

Women are discriminated and brutalised throughout the world one way or the other .

The difference is that in countries like US they have higher chance and a fair chance of getting justice in such cases whereas in India, Pakistan its hardly 1%.

i will like to focus on my own region's shit in this regard before applying a faceplam by opening threads on America or any other superpower.
That kind of propaganda was started by western media outlets...
To hide their rapes especially of US, UK and to suppress the good news about india (Mars mission, GSLV, Aircraft carrier).
Whenever there is some good news about india, they bring rape, slum, poor news for their domestic consumption...
Whenever there is some good news about china, they bring communism, poor wages for their domestic consumption...

That being said, i agree there are rapes in india and need to be eradicated...We indians are in democracy. We dont need other to preach us, our media will not keep anything under the hood...Everything will be reported...And action will be taken but might be late...

.
Am usually pretty easy with the Indians here. But if you want to attribute the worst of humanity to US...

Addicts hid girl in shed, raped her for 3 days - The Times of India

Do you really want to go down that road? I can find plenty of things wrong in India and attribute the worst of humanity to you. Am sure the Pakistanis and the Chinese would be glad to have me on their sides about this.
I just do not understand this..you are professional and are on this forum from 2009..still going for tit for tat tactics..
these are real time society problem and happens everywhere..but it's also true america has this issue but is not taken seriously..
how come india is related to this thread ...this only shows your denial attitude towards your country problem and you like only blame game...

This one in five refers to martial or relationship rape, men forcing on sex his partner. Marital rape is not the same gang-rape. Many countries, including India, don't even criminalized marital rape.

Rape can happen everywhere, India, China, EU and the US. It's delusional to argue that American women are equally at risk as Indians. Does US or CHina has culture of eve-teasing women in the public?? One doesn't need to second guess what eve-teasing will lead to in a more secluded place. US is one of the safest places for women. This is typical junk Indian media report.

LOL. Since when did White House report become junk Indian media report. If you say all US/China rapes are marital rapes, then what kind of culture does USA and China have where husbands have to rape their wives and hence 25% of all women are raped. That kind of culture would have me even more worried. India has the lowest divorce rate in the world which means Indian men and women know how to treat each other and not rape each other.

:)))))))))))))) Indian rape shame is conspiracy by the US/UK??

As far as the positive news is concerned well its a reality that one negative one suppresses positive ones . Thats how media works

LOL..agree that rapes happen in india...
But whats the point in bringing india in every reported rape around the world!!!
Did you see any indian defending rapes?

.
Well, Rape happens everywhere, Now that the media is free in US and India the news gets highlighted!! And why not, it should be. No body should be ashamed of the news if it is truth. At least we should try to counter it. Now look at the two cases involving interns. Now onwards the powerful Judges and Lawyers or anybody in Powerful position will think twice before making such advances.

But I am particularly worried about the rapes involving tribal (like in West Bengal) or illiterates. These kind of people do not read news paper nor they know the consequence of it if they are caught (take for example some auto drivers, bus drivers, laborers etc.). You can check the educated, but uneducated? So we must educate the people in order to reduce it!!

Dont put words into my mouth, I never all rape in US/China are marital. I said 1 in 5 reported in this article.
Wife would have no right to report a martial rape in India. It is not criminalized.

I said rape, sexual assualt, can happen everywhere, India, CHina or US. But the level of sex assault in India is on a different level. This can be seen by the mentality towards women, eve-teasing of women in the public. US is one the safest countries for women.

common ma'am ..India don't have to take lesson from pakistan atleast..where 4 men have to watch rape live ..to prove it's a rape..
you are in media business, you must be knowing how rape cases are handled in pakistan..+ reporting of such cases are marginal ...and victim are harassed by police and public to no end..
do , you really think we are hiding our shame..It's a blot on our country identity and must be reduced to minimum....
such things are to be strictly condemned. if we are so hiding our shame, we would not have been so vocal in our country..we are trying to deal with problem by any possible mean..
is your country doing the same..i don't think so..you are a resident of pakistan and must be knowing better than me..in how much water, your country is...

Rape is a Global epidemic sort of. There is no point at all in finger-pointing and basically showing an attitude "Your SH smells better than mine" .

I wonder instead of taking potshots about Rape Cases and Rape statistics ...Why dont we all get together and devise an solution or a remedy to this ghastly problem ?

Next someone will start Rape in Congo , then Rape in Papua New Guinea and so on.

Why not start finding solutions instead of dishing dirt cases ?

Lets start with discussing the Countries which have the lowest crime rate against women and their measures or laws for achieving this .

I said rape, sex crime, can happen in everywhere, India, CHina or US. But the level of sex crime in India is on a different level. This can be seen by the mentality towards women, public eve-teasing of women in the street or bus...etc.

According to this study, 100% sampled women have been sexually harassed in USA. I think the figures are the same for China too.

3. United States: Penn, Schoen and Berland Associates conducted a nationally representative telephone survey of 612 adult women between June 17 and June 19, 2000. From this survey, they found that almost all women had experienced street harassment: 87 percent of American women between the ages of 18-64 had been harassed by a male stranger; and over one half of them experienced “extreme” harassment including being touched, grabbed, rubbed, brushed or followed by a strange man on the street or other public place. Shattering the myth that street harassment is an urban problem, the survey found that women in all areas experienced it: 90 percent in rural areas, 88 percent in suburban areas, and 87 percent in urban areas. Sadly, 84 percent of women “consider changing their behavior to avoid street harassment.

Beijing: A 2002 survey of 200 citizens in Beijing, China, showed that 70 percent had been subjected to a form of sexual harassment. Most people said it occurred on public transportation, including 58 percent who said it occurred on the bus.

The very fact that divorces are the lowest in India says a lot about conjugal bliss in Indian married life. Any violence including sexual violence is covered under Domestic Violence Act and grounds for divorce. So you are wrong there too.

rapes are everywhere.....the more patriarchal the society , more are the no. of rapes.
also there are many definitions of rape....in some countries, forced sex inside marriages are counted as rape whereas in some countries, the kangaroo courts gangrape some hapless girl as a punishment n not count it as rape (not talking about india here).
for US haters....i m no fan of US policies, but its good to see that they are not afraid to dig up the shit and at least try to do something about it....very much unlike the indians who bar the girls from wearing "provocating" dresses.
PS: plz dont quote me.

You are wrong..... wrong in so many ways
The Conviction rates in India are HIGHER than that of U.S and Europe

Statistics | RAINN | Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network

Reporting to Police

60% of sexual assaults are not reported to the police
97% of rapists will never spend a day in jail

The above is U.S

Go ask the Americans and the Britishers to mind theri own business rather than talking about INdia, pakistan china etc..etc...etc... Its sad you buy into the self rightious attitude some Americans and brits have

common ma'am ..India don't have to take lesson from pakistan atleast..where 4 men have to watch rape live ..to prove it's a rape..

you are ignorant about that law which is already been removed. anyway India needs lesson from everyone so do we.

You can not feel proud by mentioning others when your own entire body is rotten.

Again you are applying a face-palm to escape your own shame :))))))))))))))
read again and again we Pakistanis accept our faults and whatever you mentioned and we Pakistani did NOT yell for banning rape topics but you INDIANS are desperate and running here and there and daily demand banning posting of news stories about Crimes against Women .

Don't delude yourself, 1) cases usually not reported in India. 2) such harassment are not on the same level as eve-teasing in India. Women here can safely walk in the street at night, you can't do that in India.
India even has advertisement against eve-teasing. Many of such eve-teasing acts is constituted as molest in many countries.

Divorce can be for many reasons, but just violence. In the US, women can file a report if the husband demand sex, violent is not a precondition to report. If there's violent, the husband goes to prison. It doesn't happen in India.
