Fratricide on Indo-Pak border; two jawans killed

In a suspected case of fratricide, two BSF jawans deployed along the sensitive Indo-Pakistan border in Rajasthan on Friday killed each other.

They recently inducted into the border guarding force, shot each other using their service weapons and were a “buddy pair” tasked to secure the frontier in Anupgarh’s Shivni area in Sriganganagar sector of the border.

The bodies of the jawans, identified as Jitender and Badal, were recovered by BSF officials who rushed to the spot after they heard gunshots at 3 am. The officials found the troops lying in a pool of blood in a trench near the border post.

Jitender, according to sources, pumped 12 bullets from his Light Machine Gun (LMG) into Badal, who instead got two fatal bullet shots from the INSAS rifle of his fellow trooper. Senior officials have recovered empty cartridges from the spot and have ruled out any foul play from across the border or by any third party.

“The exact reason as to why the young boys did this is yet to be known. A Court of Inquiry is underway,” a senior official said. Both the troops, part of the 64th battalion, belonged to Uttar Pradesh and were batchmates as they joined the Border Security Force (BSF) in 2011 after passing out from their training centre in Jodhpur.

Jitender belonged to Meerut while Badal hailed from Bulandshahar, they said, adding their bodies are being sent to their respective home towns.

It seems like a trend in indian forces... specially in the occupied kashmir.... killing superior officiers and suicides...more than 1500 indian soldiers have commited suicide since 2001....... senior indian army officers blame it on "a lack of discipline" and "poor leadership" in the forces........ any how... maybe their actions haunt them ...

But as Pakistanis claims India has 700000 Security personnel in J&K even 300 suicides in 6 years would mean mere 7 suicides per 100,000 troops.

1028 Suicides in 10 years for a 1.2 million army is quite low.

We dont "claim" tht... pick up any internation source... IOK is the most militarised region in the world... and its more than 1500 suicides and fratricides since 2001...

Bad in maths? also its kinda funny... trying to justify your mess with US military suicides... isnt it?

Looks like your local madrassa didn't teach you Maths
Time for a small lesson:
1500 suicides from 2001-2012 means 1500 suicides in 12 years
277 suicides from 2007-June 2013 means 277 suicides in 6.5 years.

BTW IA has lower suicide rate than US army,British Army,French Army and is at par with IDF.

Pakistan claims !!!!!
Would you agree to other Pakistani claims as well.....even by conservative estimates, there were over half million Indian security forces in IOK.
1028 Suicides in 10 years for a 1.2 million army is quite low.

Another figure was also mentioned in the briefings.
Antony said he could not ascertain the veracity of information given by the member that over 15,000 soldiers had committed suicide in the last two decades in Jammu and Kashmir alone.

Even 1500 Suicides in 12 years or 300 Suicides in 6 years is a low figure.

US military saw 349 suicides in 2012 alone:
2012 US military suicides hit record high of 349 | Fox News

I see, comparing with US military, who have been fighting brutal and bloody in places like Iraq and Afghanistan, when was the last time Indian soldiers fought a full scale war......can you even comprehend the nightmares, the sufferings and traumas the US soldiers must be going through. !!!

Guess ur dharamshalla or whatever didnt teach you how to google.. also divide 1500 by 12...

Again BS... US army might have higher ... but British, french and even IDF have much lower suicide rates of indian army... nor do they commit fratricides.... or targetting superiors..
