If this is true then US is feeling pretty much insecure right now!!

I smell desperation on US's part.
What they don't realiZe is that Party time is over for them.
So the US Airforce admits that f-15 is better than the 200 million $ plane they created as the new "Air Superiority fighter?"
You got to be kidding me. Plus J-20 seems more like a strike aircraft, we don't know what China has in plans to send for it's escort.
How come Boeing is saying the SE is as stealthy as the F35?
and if the radar is carries can pick up an F35 at the same range as the F35 can pick up the F15SE then the game is on and on almost equal terms.
Besides i remember the days when there was the debate on if you need the F22 or just upgrade the eagles.. it seems there was merit to both sides.....
hindsight is always 20-20.
Actually it is believed that Boeing compared only the frontal signature of Silent Eagle to that of F-35. Besides if you notice budgetary constraints, Silent Eagle does seem like a logical option for replacing all the older F-15 variants.I thought the Silent Eagle has a RCS of 2 square meters or something...how is that comparable to a true stealth fighter like the F-35?
I think this is first time, in a long time, we have seen that US is concerned
You guys are not thinking clearly.
No one is saying the F-22 stays on the ground. The idea is to pair them in mixed formations.
The range of the AMRAAM exceeds the detection range of the F-22. In other words, F-22's can be flying closer, can provide target tracking information to the F-15's who can launch and leave. The AMRAAM is guided to the target and the F-22 has not fired a shot. Anything fired at the retreating F-15's is defeated kinematically. That's what modern datalinking does.
The Chinese have flown a prototype that (IMO) does not appear to be in the F-22 class, more like the F-35 class, if that. To go from prototype to IOC (Initial Operational Capability) takes years.
this plan is full of holes. the point of stealth is to get the initiative. by sending F-15s along with F-22, then enemy would know you're coming and initiative is then lost.
we need F22s. not F35, and certainly not F15s
because it's outdated. almost all respectable countries have better stuff now. we can't keep upgrading old stuff, we need new stuff. No one is saying they are going to fly close formation, or any kind of formation. They will occupy chunks of sky, and be linked together digitally.
I'd love to see 1,000 F-22's, but we have a budget to deal with. Why not make use of these legacy jets?
The F-15 is a threat you cannot ignore, in the same way that an F-15 cannot ignore a gaggle of MiG-21's armed with modern missiles.
Stealth doesn't mean invisible, it means reduced RCS. All stealthy airplanes can be detected; only the detection range varies.
because it's outdated. almost all respectable countries have better stuff now. we can't keep upgrading old stuff, we need new stuff.
and you could have seen 1000+ F22s if we didn't go all in with the F35
