Third political option can steer country out of crisis: Musharraf | Pakistan Today | Latest news, Breaking news, Pakistan News, World news, business, sport and multimedia

ISLAMABAD - All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) Quaid Pervez Musharraf has said that prevailing challenges of the country can be addressed with the emergence of third political option.

Addressing APML workers in New York on Wednesday, Pervez Musharraf said that the masses in the country should sideline themselves from the hierarchical politics of PPP and PML-N and added that the third political option amid the monopoly of PPP and PML-N had become must to steer the nation from the ongoing challenges.

He further said the leadership of PPP and PML-N had rendered uncountable damage to Pakistan and in the absence of third political option the ruling political forces would ruin the country.

He added that he had transferred a prosperous Pakistan to the ruling government but the ruling government of PPP, due to its incapability and corruption, had taken the country to the verge of bankruptcy within three years.

APML chief also said that the people who blamed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan as pro-Taliban were making baseless propaganda against Khan as neither Imran nor his supporters possessed soft corner for militants.

He also congratulated APML workers on registration of APML with Election Commission of Pakistan adding that the APML would work to seek justice and rights for the people of Pakistan and steer the country from the clunches of corrupt and incapable leadership.

Sign of the times!

This is an interesting development. As I have stated before, PTI on its own cannot muster enough support to run the Government. It will have to ally itself with other like minded parties. Now what shape this alliance takes is a fluid situation. As long as one can limit the baggage that comes with these alliances, I think there might be a good opportunity for Imran to gain the upper hand.
However , I still think it wont be in 2011, but the next time.

hmmm couple of days back, i made a comment regarding musharraf and imran khan working together...
looks like a step in that direction.

i think it would probably be the best thing ever happened to pakistan if these two leaders work together!

.
I have heard Musharraf many times, he always says positive about imran khan.

Pervez Musharraf - president

Imran Khan - Prime Minister

18th amendment done away with.

Any takers? :cheesy:

.
Musharaf himself cannot gain support it wants and if he is indeed serious in getting rid of these democratic leeches then he got to support who is best in the line after himself. I am glad he found it to be Imran Khan.

Good lord.. I remember two years or so ago .. Imran Khan came to my university to give a lecture..
And his pep talk included politics.. and he waxed critique on Musharraf.. calling him "Musharraf Bandar" .. etc.
Lets see the response from PTI.

Oh please don't be so naive. Politicians can be the best of friends as soon as the situation demands it!

Perhaps I just needed to highlight expected naivety from some fellow posters.

You know, IK is one individual who would steep down to lower levels just for political gains. The difference between a well mannered individual and someone who goes with the flow to appease his audience.

I would support such a coalition if it served these purposes:

a. betterment of our economy

b. eradicate cancerous radicals from our society. (which I believe PTI would not want)

c. reviving investor confidence and government credibility

d. better foreign relations (not possible under PTI's america say phada lo)

e. end corruption.
