Not what you expect...North Iran

Noor, unbelievable paradise 😵😵 🏜

Ramsar: 🏝

Northern Iran topography looks like Austrian landscape that I drove through many years ago..I can imagine one day International and Iranian investors wanting to make World class tourist spots in these locations...but IR needs to relax some of the "Islamic" restrictions at least on visiting tourists before that happens.:undecided:

That is good to hear. I notice Pakistanis who are a bit older have positive views on Iran. The younger generation are somewhat more pro Saudi or are neutral.

Young Pakistanis definitely aren't pro Arabs. They are mostly neutral when it comes to Iran and they love Turkey a lot.

As a member of the younger generation, I'll tell you that kids are wayyy too fanatical about Turkiye.
I personally see them as a fellow muslim country, but wouldn't specifically say that we should align with them.

A relationship with Iran on the other hand, can be highly beneficial for Pakistan both economically and militarily.
Not to mention that it would scupper the Xioni5ts

Iran offers no military benefits to us but yes they do offer economic benefits, especially in the energy sector; however, these benefits come at a huge cost. Our Gulf allies would hate to see their arch-rival becoming our major energy partner. The vast majority of remittances that come to Pakistan come from our diaspora working in the Middle East and this diaspora can be very easily sent home. Additionally, our country direly depends on these remittances so this prevents us from pursuing an energy partnership with Iran. Please also note that Iran is responsible for sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan and they have a defence pact with India. I will assume that you were referring to the West by writing "Xioni5ts", if yes, then please tell me what will we gain by pissing off Zionists? Whatever decision a state makes has both benefits and drawbacks, the benefits must always outweigh the drawbacks. The West is our largest trading partner and it is the main destination for our exports, this is something that will not change for a long time assuming that it will ever change. As far as our alliance with Turkey is concerned, you can easily go through this forum to understand how incredibly important of a partner Turkey is to us, especially in the military domain. As far as our youth being fascinated with Turkey is concerned, please tell me why they shouldn't be fascinated by them. Turkey is one of the most prosperous and developed Muslim countries on Earth and we have a lot to learn from them.

@farok84 @niaz @Khan2727 My brothers, am I wrong in saying that the drawbacks outweigh the benefits of pursuing an energy partnership with Iran?

I know my own limits, and understand where I fall short.

I genuinely did not take into consideration the impact that the foreign diaspora would have upon the Pakistani economy.

I guess Pakistan is forced to play its feigning neutrality game, where it takes the advantages of each bloc for its own personal gain, without gaining too polarised.

A relationship with Turkiye seems to be in the military interests of each nation, with naval assets being created mainly. In the light of seeing the benefits, I withdraw my claims of turkey not being a good relation for Pakistan.

Nevertheless, I should have thought this through properly before posting

I have noticed that some people in this forum tend to say that Pakistan should ditch the Western block for China. What are your thoughts on this?

Hi,

I don't think Arabs will mind us buying Oil and Gas from Iran. If we can get a good deal, we should, specially gas. One of our largest refinery used to buy alot of Iranian crude not that far long.

Iran may not be our friend now but she is not our enemy either. Younger generation is probably not aware that in 1965 Iran helped us in acquiring surplus Canadian F-86 planes. Besides, Iran lies next door and is full of oil & gas. As a matter of fact Pakistan's first refinery's (PRL) design was based on Agha Jhari (Iran Light) as feedstock.

There are alreday signs that Iranian regime would be forced to liberalise sooner than later resulting in improvement in the international situation. I don not imply " Energy partnership" but a useful source of energy for Pakistan. Therefore , Pakistan should her options open;
