As for the range of the slbm the point I was making which seems to have eluded you is that we have no way of knowing if the distance the test missile flew was its maximum range or not and judging by the very many similarities with this missile to both the a1 and jl1 it would seem very likely that its true range is probably much greater perhaps as much as twice the test distance in fact.
You`re wrong again I`m afraid both the us and russia have operationally launched cruise missiles from submarines with the first ones being launched waaay back during 1991s desert storm.
As for the turbo popeye it depends what exactly you mean by "better" both weapons have their respective strengths and weaknesses so its hard to say if one is better than the other the big advantage of cruise missiles is their compact size and cheapness/easiness to produce,it actually wouldnt surprise me if the dprk went and unveiled/deployed a cruise missile as well just as iran has recently gone and done.
