No Pakistani TV channels in India

I saw someone saying about economics behind Pakistani channels being banned in India. GoI plays a big role here too. Strong Indian civil society have been told categorically not to request about lifting ban on Pakistani channels. Anti India psyche in almost all Pakistani programs is well known. GoI do not want Indians to listen to all kind of weird conspiracies floating on those channels. Thats understandable and justified.

Now comes the economics and view of Indian media. Though India liberalized her economy but still protects Indian bizz interests. Why would Indian media allow any kind of competition? Zaid Hamid really spit venom against India every time he opens his holy Islamic mouth but he and his alikes would get maximum viewer ship (but for short time only). Then comes the dramas, folk songs, cookery shows. Still Pakistani comedy is better than Indians. So what my dear Aaj Tak, India TV, India Live, Total TV etc etc would do? Shu shop??? no way. So the ban continues.

But see, what if you allow these channels to come in (both airing of channels and commercial offices in India)? Indian media will be forced to improve and improvise so viewers get better content. Zaid Hamids will vanish over night (Pakistani Biz are not fools to kills their TRPs and revenues). Though we expect and tolerate little salt and pepper to continue from both sides. It will give boost to Pakistani economy and help in cultural industries upliftment. In short run both India and Pakistan will be gaining individually and in long run we both will be reaping benefits of better understanding each other. Peace, no war, de nuking etc etc can follow then only (after understanding each other's view).

I watch only pakistani channels news and dramas... I have seen zaid hamid and I appreciate his efforts when he discussed Iqbal's poetry... but never seen ahmad qureshi being interviwed or on any talk show.... anti Indian shows are very less on our channels if we compare them to Indian media..

But Nyways if your government does not want your public to watch quality dramas it's there choice....

We should allow music channels at least.
I would say all channels other than those in which Zaid comes.
It is a shame that they allow our channels and we dont allow their. But is there really a govt ban?

On the other hand pakistanis already hate us by seeing jingoism in Indian media, do we want the same with Indian viewers?

ive rarely seen any ''sensational anti india '' news or tv programme--- the closest might be 65 / 71 war true stories of our heroes.

their wernt any soaps in pak untill recently.. they are extremely slow paced.

with the freedom of speech in the media, 40+ pak channels have come on air--- however the quality of individual programmes has gone very low-- same with the news channals, they are still in the process of ''adjusting'' to the freedom given to them, i still see irrational one sided vindicative news reporting even now

most of pak channels have blossomed due to parodies [sarcastic/humourous] of political figures-- i guess thats a good thing... perhaps i might see the same humour instilled into the scripts of dramas--[series like like house md or in treatment]

emotional yes, not farsighted yes -- but our channels are not anti indian

We already have more than 400 channels..! do u think we need more?? i think their is no need for pakistani channels in india. we have a huge and highly developed telivision industry. our big budget daily soaps are not limited to saas-bahu stuff. the new soaps nowadays are based on new and serious subjects which are a treat to watch. because of the competition their is high level of creativity in the industry. nowadays most of the serials are fresh and of high quality. from cricket to daily soaps, from plenty of comedy shows to high quality singing and dance shows, from swayamvar to other big budget reality shows, from dedicated movie channels to youth oriented channels like bindass, v, star one, mtv etc. etc. we have everything and that too the best, we dont need anything else.

Ok all you paksitani guys you want pak channels to be aired in India, very well. But how many really believe that they show contents worthy of airing in a foreign country, a hindu majority country. Ok forget the religion, you just name any 5 shows or any 5 channels which air genuine entertainment worthy of being aired. We already have loads of crappy channels and you want to increase its size from a platoon to a battalion. And to end of it we don't want pakistani urdu channels brainwashing our muslims "to rise against a so called oppressive govt." Anyway how many people in our country know urdu?? 52 million mostly in kashmir!!

dude pakistani themselves dont watch their own channel as much they watch Indian !! and there is no demand of Pakistani channel in India so the govt never paid any attention to it.. !!

5 to 6 years ago we had PTV in Delhi.. !!
