Doc,

One interesting parallel that is always noted upon is that among the ancient Persians the good guys were the Ahuras, the bad guys the daivas, among Aryans it was the other way round, Asuras and Devas. Perhaps you and dada have already discussed it to death and I am late to the party.

Also, any truth about Arjun being a Parthian and all that....

Regards

Sankranti,

Now that they you have dealt me, Dada and a few others here a devastating defeat, you must build a Vijaystambh for yourself....

Regards

Did you know what kind of people give unsolicited unwanted advice ?

Someone who is desperate for attention. :(

Actually, not to pin it on Doc, this has been discussed threadbare on PDF - I wish I could retrieve my older posts, when I was still earnest and sincere and wrote three page posts - with unknown results.

Yes, it is mentioned that the Magi were the priests, and there were - exactly like the Vedic division - three other 'castes' besides. These were consolidated, by common consent, in the 19th century.

The similarities I knew from earlier, from comparing bits of the Avesta with the Rg Veda, but it remains awesome.

We still have two divisions. The Behdin (commoners) and the Athrvan (priests).

Then there are the Khandya, who are a bit like your untouchables.

Only they are the ones who are the pall bearers so to speak. The keepers of the dead. No one else is allowed to touch the dead or take them into the Dokhma (Tower).

These are usually dark, and are most probably the descendants of the earliest unions of Parsi men and native Gujarati women during the first years of the landing.

Cheers, Doc

Why do we need so many phallic symbols? Can't we just tie him to a lingam and make a sata out of him?

So a "Vijay stambh" is a Phallic symbol ? :cheesy: .......... could you be any more predictable ?

What about the Qutub Minar ?

THAT particular 'bicker' is between Dan and you. The rest of us are strictly neutral.

He has a barely virulent academic dislike for Muslims.

You just jumped many levels in his eyes.

He hates Christians. From deep down in his gut.
