No force can stop the desire for freedom, says Dalai Lama

Lama gave a lecture to a packed Centennial Hall on solidarity and freedom and visited an exhibition dedicated to the Solidarity movement.

The spiritual leader of Tibet first visited the Solid Wroclaw exhibition to mark the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Solidarity trade union.

The Dalai Lama was guided around the exhibition by President of Wroclaw Rafal Dutkiewicz.

“Every living being desires freedom. However, in human history there are periods of organized suppression of this freedom. So it's perfectly natural that people spontaneously fight against this oppression. The Polish spirit shows this most clearly. This exhibition is best proof of how vital the pursuit of freedom is among Poles,” said the Dalai Lama afterwards.

He then gave a lecture to an audience of 6,000 people at Centennial Hall. “Spiritually and emotionally I was part of the Solidarity movement,” he said. “You cannot suppress the human desire for freedom.”

The Dalai Lama is currently on a tour of Europe. Earlier this week he visited Hungary and Germany. (pg)

A showman, with so many years living outside china, he has no idea of china

India don't support Tibetan freedom and like many other decision we are foolish not to recognize Taiwan and Tibet as disputed area which in fact are.

chinese don't care about our good gesture and keep on working against India in every way they can harm Indian and Indians. And calls India's integral parts as disputed area.

This shows that no body cares for free gifts.

Now, its time to do the rethink on Free Tibet movement.

In my opinion, India should find a middle ground between <completely ignoring the situation in Tibet> on one side and <Supporting a free Tibet>.

The Dalai Lama, while not completely blameless, is a highly respected international figure who talks sense most of the time.

It is a fact that many wrongs have been done, and continue to be done, by China in Tibet. Somebody (apart from Richard Gere) needs to let China know that what they are doing in Tibet is NOT COOL, and that the world is watching.

We need to make more noise on Human rights in Tibet, geopolitical consequences be damned.

Human rights? The human rights of Tibetan people is much better than any history, not to mention the serf-owners who fled the damage to the Tibetan people, Tibetan people in China live better much than to the Tibetan people in India , I mean ordinary civilians, not means do nothing, only to get foreign aid to an extravagant life, but not to his people, the so-called Tibetan aristocrats. No matter where, they are a parasitic class.Indians are willing to support these parasites, we do not object, you can continue.

You sound like a radio propaganda broadcast.

Let me get this straight. You're saying that all the stuff about Tibetan people's cultural freedom being curtailed, of all the monasteries damaged...all that stuff is a lie, complete fiction?

Lie, the last 30 years, no, on the contrary, the Chinese government allocated huge capital to decorate the temple, protect Tibetan culture. 30 years ago, during the Cultural Revolution, there was destruction, but it is not only the Tibetans, all of China's religious and cultural are affected. That was 30 years ago, not now. 30 years ago, India has greater damage on the Islamic religion.

Btw,Do you think the West lie less?

Great Cultural Revolution is the only right thing China had to do 30 years ago which liberated our people's minds or India will in front of us anyway now.

Another Da Liar Lama song and dance. Just ignore him. He is mere a pawn in the hands of anti-China forces both in the West and among some circles in India. India is certainly free to, as some Indian members advocate, make Tibet an issue. One is also reminded not to throw rocks when one lives in a glass house.
