Indonesia has not reached decision on buying Russian Sukhoi Su-35 (Flanker-E) jets.

In September, Indonesia decided to replace its US-made Northrop F-5 Tiger II fighter jets with Russian Sukhoi Su-35s, Indonesian Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu said. The nation is keen on buying 32 advanced aircraft but a decision on the supplier had not yet been made and at the moment Indonesia is not engaged in direct negotiations with Russia on the matter, Jan Pieter Ate, director for international cooperation at the Indonesian defense ministry, said at the Defence and Security Asia (DSA) Show currently on at Bangkok.

According to Indonesian law, any contract for the purchase of foreign weaponry should require the transfer of at least 35 per cent of the procured technology to the country, the official told RIA Novosti told. "such an agreement with Russia has still to be made." Ate added.

Earlier it was reported by Indonesia's Antara News that Indonesia's military had decided upon the SU-35 based on its attractive price.

International fighter aircraft manufacturers including Dassault of France, Eurofighter and Lockheed Martin with the latest version of its F-16 are eyeing the Indonesian market.

so does that mean russia is not willing to provide the 35% tot.
because i read that its money thats putting them off, yet its cheaper than the typhoon and the rafale.

I dont know what is actually happening now, but we really have decided to replace F-5 with SU 35 S. I am sure that Russia will give the TOT since Russia knows about this already. Russia has made the strategic cooperation with us during Su 35 S negotiations that will allow such transfer to happen.

if there are ordering 36 they may build half in russia and supply kits to indoneasia and give them a license. the typhoon consortium is offering the same thing but the numbers are different, and with the typhoon you will be given exclusive rights to build and sell cft's

I think the typhoon offer is generous. Still, it's up to government to decide which they want.

true and if they have the money. a typhoon is £65million for a base tranche 3a and the high end is £125 million[R&D in high end price]. whilst su-35 is £35 million

but the typhoon is much better than the su-35

Depends on the analyst. The SU-35 has greater offensive capability , which I think is the onus that the Indonesian Air Force is considering. Given, i mean no injustice to the Typhoon or the Gripen as both are great all-around fighters.
