KARACHI: The provincial president for Pakistan People’s Party Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said Saturday there were only two ways to get rid of the incumbent government which are through either tabling no-confidence motion in the parliament or mobilizing masses, ARY News reported.

Khuhro said it was the now prime minister Imran Khan who used to incite people into laying siege of the parliaments.

He gathered two- to three thousand people and claimed masses stood by his side, PPP Sindh president Nisar Khuhro said talking to media.

He said we will keep reminding the current government of its means to getting to power today so it realizes how it incited people into building pressure on parliament and in fact termed the parliament sham, Khuhro said.
We will keep reminding them this until they voluntarily pack up and go home, he said.

On the Pakistan Democratic Movement front, an alliance of opposition parties which stands towards one end of dismantling incumbent government, the PPP leader said this alliance of ten political narratives where each one has its individuality, has a four-point agenda: Political power shows, rallies, building public pressure, and standing in parliaments.

While we are keeping the window for en-masse resignations open, we have openly said we are not looking forward to boycott elections, the senior party leader said.

Separately earlier today in the case pertaining to alleged foreign funding to Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf for which the opposition has led protests outside the Election Commission of Pakistan office, the election regulator has once again clarified that an open hearing in the foreign funding case would only be held after the report of the scrutiny committee.

In the clarification by the ECP, the spokesperson said that the country’s supreme electoral body will hold an open hearing in the foreign funding case after the report of its scrutiny committee.

LAHORE: Stressing that “long march is the only way to topple the incumbent government,” Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Ahsan Iqbal on Saturday asked Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari to show required numbers to back up his plan of no-trust motion, ARY News reported.

Talking to journalists here in Lahore today, Ahsan Iqbal said “if Bilawal Bhutto has the numbers to bring a no-confidence motion then he should certainly show them.”


Opposing the PPP’s proposal, the PML-N leader said that despite having a majority in the Senate, their no-confidence motion had not succeeded. He further said that a decisive long march was the only way to get rid of the government, adding that the month of March will be suitable for the long march.

It is pertinent to mention here that the fault lines have emerged within the opposition alliance Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) as the parties divided over whether to bring an in-house change via no-confidence motion or build pressure outside.

According to sources in the know about internal developments, at least four of PDM parties have opposed in-house change strategy and have suggested convening a top huddle to discuss the possibilities.

The sources say parties have suggested consolidating their strategies against the incumbent government as the fissures arose. Some parties including Pakistan People’s Party support the in-house change plan while others, such as Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) advocate for a belligerent approach.

Opposition leaders huddle tomorrow to discuss strategy

ISLAMABAD: An important session of the parliamentary leaders of the opposition parties has been summoned tomorrow (Monday), citing sources, ARY News reported on Sunday.

According to sources, the opposition parties will consult over moving a no-trust motion against the prime minister and the Speaker of the National Assembly in the session for an in-house change.

“The government and the opposition have also been in contact over the working of the parliament,” according to sources. “The opposition leaders have been in touch with Defence Minister Pervez Khattak, however, the two sides have failed to iron out differences over the parliamentary proceedings,” sources said.

“The opposition parties have demanded written guarantee over their demands, which also including equal time to opposition in the National Assembly,” according to sources.

The opposition parties have also demanded running the lower house according to the decisions made by the advisory committee.

“They have warned to boycott the assembly’s session in case of non-compliance of the agreement.”
“We will walkout of the session to halt the proceedings, which also includes pointing out the quorum,” opposition sources said.

The opposition parties will present their demands to Pervaiz Khattak, they added.
It is to be mentioned here that Ahsan Iqbal, a senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had stressed in a statement that “long march is the only way to topple the incumbent government.” He also asked Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari to show required numbers to back up his plan of the no-trust motion.

According to sources in the know, at least four PDM parties have opposed the in-house change strategy and suggested convening a top huddle to discuss the possibilities.

PPP created another district in Karachi to get all jobs of KMC, so that they could induct 50 guys against each post(and all from different parts of interior Sindh, none of them from Karachi).
