If what you say is remotely true than india would have attacked Pakistan with a full scale military assault after mumbai 2008 and URI last month. The fact that they couldn't is very telling despite the fact that Pakistan is at least 7x smaller than india and doesn't have abundant access to the world's most advanced weapons systems like india does.

Pakistan in all probability covertly has sufficient countermeasures to the Indian ABM system that they have not alluded to just like they didn't with our nuclear weapons program pre-May 1998.

The reason for avoiding a full blown war is known to even small kids.

No Indian thinks we are superpower compared to Russia or USA. But our aim is to be regional power in South Asia. As far as China is concerned they are ahead of us, but not so much that we're losing any sleep over it. Remember that nearly half a century has passed without a bullet being fired across our border with China from either side. There's a reason for that..

You would eventually need to join the ABM race for sure, but you won't be able to catch up. We get help for ABM from USA, Russia, Israel. You get help from China. Plus whenever you do it'll put a big financial strain on your economy which you'll not be able to afford. So you'll never be able to effectively catch up in ABM tech.

Regarding millions clamouring for war in India, what can I say, we are a 1.3 billion population, a few million are bound to be stupid. I'm sure you have plenty of those in Pakistan too. I don't know who said that Pakistan will not become a nuclear state even with China's help as China's nuclear capability was on par with the superpowers. Regarding ABM, no one will help you apart from China and their own ABM is much behind the superpowers, so they won't be able to help you catch up with India.

Your assumptions about China are laughable. The Chinese have reached a stage whereby they are the ONLY other nation on earth that can 100% indigenously produce world class advanced weapons systems like the West and Russia does. Just because they have not PUBLICLY admitted to having an ABM system/program doesn't mean to say it doesn't exist.
