India's EV market is smaller than that of a single city district in China.

I think I lost count to how much I've been asked by peers in the industry if pushing EVs to India is a good idea.

There is virtually no market in between even cheapest Mahindras, and anything like an electric chingchis.

And the same picture in higher-end cars. Indian's either buy a <$10k car, or they buy S600. Middle class buying anything else is visible in big cities, but in comparison to the total population it's miniscule.

You either beat Mahindras on price, or you don't sell.

Those cars under Rs 5 lakh are made from tinfoil, but they are cheeeeeap, and when choosing in between a crappy IC powered car, vs a crappy electric powered car, people will invariably choose IC.
