Newsweek on Americans: How Dumb Are We?

My conclusion: Chinese, at least the posters here, have poor English comprehension skills (even if they write English well) and inability to understand and handle criticism. I also notice a misplaced sense of superiority for a country with per capita income almost the same as Mexico's. Thirdly, rationality and intelligent, independent debating is something I never see from the Chinese here (related to poor comprehension skills and years of PR exposure?). Fourth, I see a lot of hatred toward other countries and their peoples (historical baggage?). Fifth, I see insane attempts to defend the poor HR situation in China (posters here are paid commies?).

Evidence on this forum alone exists to show that Chinese say, think and espouse their views completely differently from the rest of the world. There is a certain amount of commonality between how Americans, Pakistanis, Sri lankans, Indians, and Bangladeshis argue. All show a lot of independent views and the ability o handle criticism well and present well balanced ripostes. The Chinese stand out as a completely different breed.

p.s. It's not that Chinese have poor comprehension skills as you claim, it's that your claims are stupid. Stupid you hear? So we ignore what you talk about and go to the heart of the issue--your dimness.

Second, learn to respond to difference of opinion like a civilized man. Because I have superior independent thinking skills that I can intelligently disagree with you.

Thirdly, you're the one posting racism comments on Chinese members. Look to post 65, where I expose your bigotry.

My only disappointment is that I always thought economic liberalism will ultimately lead to independent thinking. Alas, the Chinese havent still gotten there. What a tragedy!

LOL, you're the guy who said "India is powerful enough to start its own United Nations".

Does that sound like "rational thinking" to you, or the whining of a fanboy?

Rollingstone suffers from a particular brand of lunacy called "projection". People like him lives in a dream world in which no one is allowed to disagree with his points of view, no matter how sensationalist and benighted his claim is. He puts Glenn Beck to shame.

'Rational thinking' isn't needed if you are an American. All they need is a card with the word 'Commie' on it. They can wave it about when they want to 'intellectually disagree' with you.

Amazing...the lack of comprehension skills. Is this why you guys keep on prattling about other nations suffering from less IQ than China? This is exactly what is called "projection". In a sad way you are mixing up who said what and whom to attribute what opinions. There is something about the Chinese that I have come to understand through this forum - and that is that they are insecure people not capable of independent thinking. If I were to take the sample size here as representative of the Chinese population, then the situation is hopeless, to say the least.

If you are so morally and intellectually enlightened, why are you afraid to talk about your racist posts on this thread? Respond to post 65. You need to live up to your racist comments. Until you do, you have no credibility in this forum, no matter how much you groan about our supposed lack of comprehension skills. If you want your opinion to be heard and believed, you need to show that you're a responsible human being, and that includes respecting the forum members. You need to quite pointless disparaging remarks and racial slurs. Until then, you're nothing more than that worthless ignorant man the article defines as a cancer in America.

Yet more racism from Rollingstones.

Negative stereotypes based on race, is this really the limit of your argumentative ability?

.
It is true that insecurity does spawn fear of upheaval, political, social etc.

A govt that believes in ruling through regimentation and fear cannot face this challenge.

I work with a lot of Chinese engineers, from mainland China to Taiwan to SG, residence time from one yr to over a decade in the US, younger than I to being my father's age. After a few off duty get-togethers and drinks, to a man and a woman, they had to admit that there is a lot of contempt among the ordinary Chinese for other Asians, and hatred for the Japanese. The latter we can understand because of WW II. But for the former, the other Asian ethnicities, contempt is the norm. It was initially uncomfortable for them to admit that ugly side of Chinese society, especially when the man opposite them is a member of those 'inferior' Asian stock, but time spent in the US, particularly for a couple guys who have been here over a decade, bought homes, and have their families here, the admittance came out much easier.

Hahaha, what a joke. China is one of the most multicultural countries in the world with over 54 ethnic groups and 3 million foreign residents. Yes, there are indeed racists in China, but there hasn't been racial attacks on foreigners here for 25 years. How many racist killings are there in the US?

Oh come on no one here is stupid enough to say all americans are like that.....but that triangle question is just unforgivable by any standard:P.

Oh God yes. I lol'd hard. There are such stupid people in this world. I'm just amazed they managed to keep in the one guy's answer about the moon landing being a conspiracy, because that's a well known theory that's been around for years. (It's still stupid, but not as stupid as the rest of them.)

But that one guy naming every country in the list of places to attack was priceless.

Also, all American brains are filled with cheese.

What kind?

I'd prefer shedder...or at least a mozzerella cheese stick. those things are awesome.....actually no, I think it's more fitting of America if our heads were filled with Cheez-whiz

CHEESE IN A CAN. Is there anything more American in the dairy industry?

Giving me links to dozen page long discussions is no proof. Show me evidence of how me and my like "often mistake and misconstrue criticism of a country's policies as racism". You haven't done that yet, and until you do, your argument's nothing but smoke and mirrors.

Dude. Do. You. Understand. English.? Stop ranting if you cannot differentiate between criticism and racism.

You and your ilk are the ones who go around getting off on accusing all and sundry, who are not Chinese, as Racists. So the onus is on YOU to support your claim or accusations with proof. Do you understand that part?

You make accusations, so support it with proof, least you be called an idiot for all the racist drivel you post. And yes, your posts along with those of your ilk are nothing short of being racist.

And for the last time, I say and I believe the mods here agree through their action of NOT deleting or putting out an infraction, that there is not an ounce of racism in that "post 65" you keep referring to. So shove it.
