Turkey earns $40 billion from tourists and recived 42 million people compared to paltry half a million in Pakistan ~ most whom are ex-pats like me. Even Trump did not actually lock out visitors to USA. Post 9/11 after Us lost 5,000 in 9/11 they are still open - just increased security.

Novelty. So few. In 1980s I went to few European countries and I had dash of a time. The only brown face in sea of white. I got so much attention in particular from the members of opposite sex, mostly positive including even in Moscow. Today they are all inured and would look at me with look of 'Muzee terrorist'.

When Pakistan gets tourists like Turkey - 40 million or India with 30 million that novelty will wear out fast.

Can't say about others but can only speak for myself.
It's not about their skin colour, it's about their culture and lifestyle - free mixing, alcohol, beach culture etc. None of them are found in Pakistan. White westerners are not the only ones with such culture, there are brown latinos too and some others. So, when they visit Pakistan or any other stereotypical Islamic country, one can assume they actually do want to see some different culture and lifestyle which is always a good surprise.

The Chinese, Japanese are more rampant then any Europeans. Anybody who has seen their women will tell you. They don't have any compunctions. No religious restrictions whatsoever ... ditto for Latino's.

And worse are Africans. They measure civilization by being less dressed and shaking their booty.

If money was everything, how much is uncle sam offering us to give up our nuke arsenal? Imagine the financial concessions and benefits we could get.

I agree that everyone should have the right to live a respectable life with at least all of their basic requirements met, like food, shelter, a respectable and honest source of income, education etc.. But honour should always come before material gain.

Now something that I think is food for thought is how will mass tourism impact certain unique cultures of our society?

If money was everything

I think both are extreme poles. We can't deny the importance of money. A sick person needing treatment, a child needing education, money to keep armed forces in shape. But of course as much as money is important I would not sel my kids for billion dollars.
