New York Times: Squeezed by an India-China Standoff, Bhutan Holds Its Breath

You know nothing at all. Check the map first. PLA evaluates we only need less than 48 hours. Taiwanese evaluates like 1 week. We don't want use force, simple because we are all Chinese.

that is assuming some group in Taiwan does not declare independence

It's meanless to discuss our civil war with you. We prepare it for decades, we know what will happens.
China's patience in Donglang is paying off.
Though it took 2 months, but the West is slowly coming round to China's view and see the intransigence of the Indians and how the Indians are bullying all their smaller neighbors.

China must not let up on the warnings and pressure on the the Indians.
Must make sure investment sentiment in India is affected and cause capital flight from India.

Maybe some American states must give away their Alaskan territory to China as a compensation.

We are not budging.

NYT can cry a river for all we care.

But when India ordered its troops across the border on June 16, it seemed to do so without a request from Bhutan. While Bhutan has condemned the Chinese road work, it has studiously avoided saying whether it asked India to intervene. The Indian government has also avoided the question.

How interesting.

Some reporter sitting 5000 miles away knows about the intricate communication between Bhutanese and Indian PMO.

The standoff does not, so far, involve Bhutanese forces, and state television and even the independent news media have followed the government’s lead and said virtually nothing about the conflict.

Bhutan doesn't like unnecessary limelight in the international media as it comes with a lot of other problems.

That has been their policy for many many years. They are a quiet, happy country nestled in the Himalayas.

Unfortunately, because of CCP's aggression (not China's as such) for a domestic political score, this has escalated so seriously.

For a moment, I thought you were the representative of Bhutanese government, then I remember you were from South Tibet/Arunachal. How do you know what Bhutanese people want by the way?

That's funny; until this instance, it was CCP claiming that they know every heartbeat of what Bhutanese want, though the communication on this has happened only between Thimphu and Delhi.

What CCP has anything to do with this thread?

NYT Not Crying.
NYT is Just stating a fact that India is manipulating Bhutan like a puppet and Bhutan hate the Indians.
When will Indians wake up from their delusions that they are peaceful and come to terms with their cunning, devious and manipulating selfs.

Supporting Pakistan's nuclear and missile programs is not a sign of friendship

Why dont you cut ties with whole Europe and US from where we smuggled major equipment under the nose of your buddies? Should Pakistan start arming central asian and eastern asian countries with Missiles and nukes against Russia since they builded every thing for you... should we? or you will find more suitable excuse against China? whihc is that you dont want to sit on table of talks with either Pakistan or China bcoz you fear that you have to give something?

Pakistan is using its nukes to spread violence all around the region
That is not a sign of self-defense

No Pakistan is supporting Kashmiri movement from 1947,
when we were not even nuclear, when you guys will stop lying? Nukes are not part of the problem, part of the problem is Kashmir dispute which your terrorist state want to keep as colony instead of allowing right of self determination as promised by your first PM in UN.

Your leaders put conditions for talks, when people protests in Kashmir, your occupier ugly swines kill them with bullets and injured thousands of them with pallet guns, when Kashmiri retaliate with guns on purely military targets, you call them terrorists and Islamists and say their wont be talks and just bullets..

Yet according to subhumans in gangaland, Pakistan support terrorism and your occupier swines are saints..

So? The writer of "India's China War" Mr. Nevilli Maxwell was the India based correspondent for "Times". Was he paid by Indian government to write that book?

Labeling anyone who speak out against India as "Chinese paid agent" is not going to work. Refusal to face the reality is India's curse to become a strong power.

A quote from a Bhutanese reacting to this NYT article:

"
Steve
As a Bhutanese I am glad to read this very well informed, balanced article. India has been working surreptitiously to make sure Bhutan stays very dependent on India. It is the reason why Bhutan doesn't have diplomatic relations with the US, or any of the other major powers. As the article states Bhutan isn't allowed to have flights to China even though it would very lucrative and beneficial for the tourism industry. Road projects which would make Bhutan less dependent on India's strife torn bordering regions are effectively scuttled.
It's heartening to see many Bhutanese are able right through the lies and fabrication in the India media and are speaking up about this. These shenanigans have gone on for for too long. Common people in Bhutan would really benefit from Chinese investments in modern infrastructure. A more developed Bhutan would only benefit India. It's a real shame India isn't able to see the big picture. Perhaps that's why they are still stuck while China has moved on to become a global power.
