The police is just too embarrassed to admit that those people died because of some coupons.
RIP to the innocent victims. Shame on those greedy people who got excited for some coupons.
Not where i am.They have parades and stuff too.
It was the saboteur who deliberately thrown the fake dollar bills at the crowd which caused this tragedy.

It would be funny if more greedy, rude and selfish Chinese die from stampede in the hospital.
China is very lucky a large number of trouble-makers could die in such a poetic justice way. I believe China is a little bit stronger in 2015 once undesirables are eliminated. I wish this happens every year in Shanghai. Kind of like mowing the grass.
Ask Stalin if cleaning house is a bad thing.really you wish death to people of your own country? Are you for real?
The best way is not to have government sponsored events during western new year's eve. People were expecting some show that's why they gathered there. It appears to be not a matter of materialistic. In 1993 same thing happened in HK, in 2004 in Beijing and now in Shanghai.
These stampede accidents were due to lack of facilities and dozens were killed during New Year's Eve celebrations. Both HK and Beijing drew lessons from it, Shanghai never had this incident before lets hope more facilities will be implemented in the future in order to prevent this from happening again. Still it would be wise to avoid being amongst the crowd during the last day of the year.
Perhaps, when you look at New York, despite the huge crowd no stampede takes place during New Year's celebration. The answer is facility. The best way is not to have government sponsored events during western new year's eve. People were expecting some show that's why they gathered there.
