KARACHI: Giving permission to open more than 50 new wine shops in Karachi is a deep conspiracy to ruin the future of youth of this financial, trade and industrial lifeline of Pakistan, and if the government failed to withdraw the licenses of these new wine shops, the enraged people of Karachi would be compelled to raze these wine shops, warned Jamaat e Islami (JI) Karachi.

JI Karachi secretary general Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that there is no precedent in the history of Pakistan to give permission to open wine shops in such a large number in Muslim dominated localities. He recalled that last time, 15 years ago, the then regime had issued 22 licenses to wine shops in one go in Karachi.

He said that the population of minorities living in Karachi is not large enough to justify the opening of 50 new wine shops. He said that allowing so many wine shops to operate in purely Muslim localities is a deep conspiracy and the whole nation should take a serious notice of this sad state of affairs.

Rehman said that some hidden hands want to spoil Pakistani youth and promote alcoholism in them, which is highly condemnable. He regretted that the rulers of an Islamic republic are patronizing alcoholism and drug culture instead of promoting Islamic values and culture.

He said that there is no place of wine shops in any Muslim society. He also said that there has already been a rising trend of crime in the areas where wine shops are operating. He said that he respects the rights of minorities, but promoting alcoholism in Muslim youth in the name of minorities’ rights could not be tolerated.

He warned that a serious unrest is simmering in Muslim dominated localities where the imprudent rulers had allowed permissions to open new wine shops. He said that if the government failed to realize the gravity of this sensitive issue and cancel the new licenses of wine shops the people would be justified to take the matter in their own hands.

He demanded the sacking of provincial minister for excise and taxation and withdrawing permissions for opening of new wine shops in Karachi.

Is there anything that isn't a damned conspiracy.

Is there anything that isn't a damned conspiracy.

You bet there is.

Govt. of Punjab is giving degree awarding status to 26 colleges and making them autonomous bu setting up a BoD for their administration. This is what the head of the The Punjab Professors and Lecturers Association which is opposing the move had to say:-

"This is a western and American agenda"

After this, anything can be deemed a conspiracy. In their case, the anger is there because the teachers will become far from "permanent" and have to sign up for performance based contracts.

The Youth are @ danger from Joblessness
The Youth are @ danger from lack of sports facilities and activites
The Youth are @ danger from Talibanization
The Youth are @ dangeer from Cancer from Malboro
The Youth are @ danger from drugs from Afghanistan

I sincerely doubt , wine will make them problomatic
Side effects of Wine = helps in digestion and regulation of blood sugar levels in moderate amount. Accessive usage equals failed liver

Fact of matter is all of the upper class in Pakistan has access to Wine and also Youth have ample supply of it , in black market.

Just add taxes on the drink ....

99% of ppl would probbly not drink it but the 1 % market will pay taxes on it.

Most of the ppl on international flights mostly Pakistanis are ordering wine

Wine was indeed part of Islam in early days , but it was outlawed as ppl missed prayers
so it was looked on as a negative influence so it was removed from muslim cities.

.
wine shops are opening to satisfy the drunkards of the PPP and as we saw the video of our drunk nazim, drunk chief miniser of punjab, drunk zerdari etc.., its their damn culture..

ofcourse karachites will not like to have a wine shop in their localities

.
conspiracy theories come later but in the very first place ,why do we need/sell wine if pakistan is an islamic state?so it should not be allowed in PAKISTAN..

Remember Bhandara proposed legalizing it in 2005?

As I wrote earlier, one thing that has always puzzled me is the following.

Before 1977, alcohol was not illegal. It was sold to anyone who wanted it regardless of religion or race. Since then it has been banned and asking for lifting the ban sends emotions running high and right wing parties go nuts. Now people buy it at extremely high prices from black market and poor people loose their lives drinking methanol, anti freeze and various other poisonous alcoholic drinks.

I seriously believe that if I said that alcohol should be legalized in a crowded market, I will not go home with all bones intact. If the people of Pakistan did not have a big problem with alcohol being legal for 30 years, why do emotions run high when it is discussed these days? Isn't it a matter of personal choice? If somebody asks for legalizing it back, why should he fear for his life?

Alcohol being legal before '77 didn't mean that every Pakistani was an alcoholic or a drunk. People drank if it was acceptable to them. Were the people some sort of "lesser" muslims (daresay were they infidels?) back then or has Islamic morality only surfaced in my lifetime?

conspiracy theories come later but in the very first place ,why do we need/sell wine if pakistan is an islamic state?so it should not be allowed in PAKISTAN..

It was legal for 30 years and generated tax revenue for the state. Were my grandparents not Muslims since they did not object to it being sold? Or were they just tolerant and rational people who understand that banning things creates black markets and breeds crime?

The strand of banning alcohol is limited to our region only.

it seems they(govt) are reviving the tie of Z.A.Bhut00 who made casinos and drinking legalized in karchi :/

Pakistan of pre 1977 was a different Pakistan -

I think ppl who are finely religous should have faith in their own belives , I mean there are alot of Muslims in USA/Europe

Who live close to wine shops but they don't drink ...etc

So what danger does the wine shops pose ?

Its your own strength and character that determines who you are.

If someone now starts a rally and starts burning busses that is the last thing that is constructive:whistle:

Islam gives us choice ...it always give ppl choices , personal decision making choices

If the STATE controls all choices then we are all going to heaven because we live in a police state.

Bhai nahi peena to no problem don't go to wine shop .... lol

By the way , bribe taking - stealing electricity , software piracy and copying , not paying taxes , pollution , burning garbages, writing on walls is also unislamic and fake degrees - and obviously ... more stuff
