So what's all this about sending the Mi17 to Czechoslovakia?

about 10 used Mi-17s were provided by the US. they were over-hauled in CZH before delivery to PAA. one crashed as the overhaul was not properly done. the other 9 were then sent back. PAA has been overhauling soviet legacy helos like Mi-8s and now Mi-17s for many years.

WANT THE future - go for the Wz10. There is little point to adding 5 or 20 helicopters, what Pakistan need is a technology package and it's simply pointless talking about western this or that, it's a game of commissions and future losses.

Pakistan have to walk on their own road, it will always be a lonely road - and that is best for Pakistan.

HIT, PAC Kamra, now an institution for the study and manufacture of turbine engines.

You may not build indigenous soon, but you are right. Pakistan should at least push for local sub-contracters in any deal, to build tech know-how.

Combat helicopters are important. Especially fighting terrorists and militants. It's hard to find the best one though. Regarding Russian made KA-50, I doubt if the Russians would provide it because of India.

China, and EU are Pakistan's best options as far as a reliable supplier goes. Albeit the latter being much more expensive, but proven. Getting into ToT also helps.

NO! not an American platform.
moreover it is VERY expensive.

specially there is no need to spend millions when the Mi-17 are doing a fine job.
in our terrain, all we need the choppers to transport are troops and we don't have to airlift our tanks or APC. for this the Mi-17 are good. we have the maintenance facilities and now china is also manufacturing these so no issue with parts or upgrades!

wel wel wel our armed forces are in compitant corrupt, enemy of nation eating money and buying nothing for country bellieve i was biggest patriote of army but when i see army is supporting those who are our enemy which means friend of my enemy is my enemy which our army clearly is they are doing nothing busy in corruption what they have done till now for nation nothing you see kharotabad than killing of youngsters by rangers no matter what army dont have any authority to even point gun on its citizens. why army people are sitting in airports when it is not their job their job is to go in deserts and train not in cities

.
its planned AFAIK as part of the 2012-13 CISF. US$500m for 12-14 units.

thanks,
it will be good if we can get these from US funds money. i hope we don't have to spend our $$ for this platform as this can then be used to buy something from turkey/china as backup in case the relations between Pakistan and US AGAIN get bad!
