What's new

New Load Out On JF-17 Thunder

and could pretty much close oil trade through the straight of hormuz.
That would be suicidal unless we have ICBM's. Closing oil trade through the strait of Hormuz would choke the global economy. But should be a option of last resort.

If you are cueing a PL15 with HMD then things have gone sideways...
Not really - it depends on multiple scenarios.
You can use the HMD to display BVR targets on it and essentially point at the one to lock on to.

That being said, you are fully equipped to use the PL-15 in close ranges which may be pretty useful in a tail chase situation instead of IR. What is a defensive bandit going to do? Outrun a missile capable of 50+km tail chase at 8km?

There would be flutter and clearance issues with having a towed decoy so close to the fuselage, and quite frankly, a towed decoy is now an outdated concept. Only the Typhoon uses it. Smart chaff units are far more effective against Fox 3s.

Indians were cheering the towed decoy for their Rafael's coule of years ago. Don't Indian Rafales use decoys as well?

For most air forces your statement applies correctly... for the PAF the mirage 3/5s serve as the same exact utility as the B-52s do for the USAF ie Bomb/Strike trucks. Believe me the Mirage 3/5 holds such a position in the PAF that if they had their way it would serve for another 30 years via continued upgrades to structure/avionics/ and even engine.

Forget even ground targets, you know very well a few mirages equipped with ASCMs would rain hell on any navy, and could pretty much close oil trade through the straight of hormuz. Argentina only had 6 mirages and 6 excocet cruise missiles and was able to hold the royal navy at bay. Pak has hundreds of mirages and thousands of cruise missiles.

Its our old school jugad weapon. We may retire even the A5s, F6s, and even F7s, but we will hold on to our forever customizable bomb trucks= Mirage 3/5s :pakistan:
But airframes are getting old
Majority of paf crashes are of mirages

Perhaps kamra could opt. For a delta wing version of jf17 for deep strike operations
Like f16 XL VISTA version was proposed
But that would be too expensive

I think the delta wing j10 will fill the role of deep striker

Hi,

Quite a few of us have commented to where the JF17 BLK 3 is headed in countering the Rafale---.

Here is an interesting consideration---for a successful BLK3 venture---how would Dassault react to that change.
They would worry if the ingians were to place further orders for the rafales....as the frenchies want their pound of flesh upfront

a new engine, composites and fuel storage around wings and fuselage likr jf17b block 2, should help Jf17 block 3+ carry additional 2000 lbs to a total of 8000 lbs of weapons , will make it a potent strike aircraft

.
The wings were actually strengthened by CAC at the request of the PAF before full production commenced. You can actually see a strengthening element added to the topside of the wing root fairing next to the fuselage.

Just for sake of record

This additional piece of meatal is present since blk-1 in every JF-17, one can google the pic.

Secondly every JF-17 excpet first 8 jets of blk-1, some earlier twin seater JF-17 and few blk-III which were manufactured in China

Lastly we have confirmation from media and official source the strengthening was done in PAC kamra

Chinese were part of the team who study the cause of first JF-17 accident and studied the problem, blk-II came with strenghtend wings from the production line

It is ... It was formerly known as the RA'AD II but this one has allegedly an improved engine for longer range, new avionics and guidance systems

RA'AD-II already have such engine which can propel it up to 650 KM, but we know RA'AD is an strategic system therefore could not be exported in current form this new Tamoor missile is non-strategic system could be exportable version of RA'AD-I with 290 KM range RA'AD-I, keep in mind had 350 KM range

It would be interesting to know if Taimoor will come with a Pakistani designed and manufactured microjet engine. That will be progress for sure!
