On November 6th Zhang Jigao, deputy chief designer of the J-10 fighter, spoke about the improved model J 10 publicly for the first time in the AVIC flight test center. Zhang Jigaotold People’s Daily Online reporters thatthe overall performance of the J10 will be comprehensively improved in areas such as aerodynamic layout, mission system, and the approach to maintenance.

In March 2009, pictures of our improved model J10 fighters appeared for the first time on the Internet, and netizens quickly began to call it the ”J-10B”.

Over the last five 5 years, several images of the test J10B have appeared online, attracting
widespread attention from netizens, military enthusiasts, and even foreign media. U.S. military expert Richard Fisher recently pointed out that the J-10B is a so-called”fourth
and a half” generation fighter equipped with modern airborne technology and an advanced radar system, which is about to be delivered to the PLA Air Force.

Zhang Jigao disputed the term ”fourth and a half” generation. In contrast, he suggested that the current international criteria to classify generations are more applicable.

He pointed out that single combat is rare in modern warfare, and that the majority of cases now involve system combat and network operations, so that the combat capabilities of a fighter depend on many factors.”This does not mean that the
optimization of an aircraft’s radar, avionics, and missile detection ranges are bound to improvements in operational performance.”

Zhang Jigao added that further improvements to the performance of the J10 would focus on the aircraft’s aerodynamic layout and mission systems, and the approach to maintenance.”Aircraft development requires constant optimization and improvement,” he said, “and our modifications will be comprehensive rather than being confined to a specific area.”

.
Just curious.

How is J-10B performance if compared with latest Rafale and Eurofighter latest tranche?

. .
J-10B was developed from the testbed for J-20.

It's totally a new design and shares many features and avionics with J-20, it's a 4+ gen fighter promising of kill.

With its small RCS and powerful AESA, it has air superiority over any other 4th gen fighter as F15/16/18, Su27/30, Mig29, Typhoon, Rafale, etc. J-10B will find first and kill first.

But dont the latest Rafale, Typhoon, and SU35BM have AESA, small RCS, supercruise and other features of 4.5++ gen?

Compared with all the ones you listed (Su35, Rafale, Typhoon),

RCS: 1) J-10B is single engine and smaller physically
2) J-10B with DSI intake, fan blades are blocked and no gap between intake and body
3) Fully engine integrated to the body. No engine protrusion.
4) Elliptical cross section radome same as 5th gen. All others are just circular as what a 3rd or 4th fighter should be.
5) Plus, J-10B is stealth optimized specially, as I known, others are NOT.

AESA radar: (grant they all have)
J-10B has big cross section area radome just next to Su-35 (not so far) for more T/R module countered. Rafale's radome is even smaller than LCA;

Naturally, J-10B would be the winner with smaller RCS and stronger radar in a BVR battle.

Blah di blah

how comical /fantastic one can be while deriving conclusions one must learn from you.

Yes that looks good in gulf war /serbian wars against planes of MIG-23 mig 29 /SU-27 where RWR dont have accuracy to detect air borne emitters & also cue it .On top it jammers part is another thing.

But current gen planes like F22/rafale & even SU 35 both have such RWR that can not only detect EM radaitions but cue it precisely
Manno ya na maano ( translation-beleive it or not) .

1) Angular localization of target with accuracy <1 degree
2) Integrated avionics suite / Common integrated processor
3) interferometric technology

which is seen latest fighters right now Such as Rafale, Su 35 & F22

Do u know the capabilty of Spectra for rafale ,if u had known they you wouldnt have posted such blunder .
Here is an interesting source for you to read
in addition to these piloting protections regarding the safe operation of a high perfor-mance aircraft, the Rafale gives us the feeling of flying in a shielded bubble. The SPECTRA suite of internal Electronic Warfare, developed by Thales and MBDA in-corporates situational awareness features and warning to a large range of different spectral hazards. More than ‘merely’ protection, it puts the pilot out ahead of threats with the benefit of the needed time to make the best decision. SPECTRA also inte-grates the Data Fusion of the Rafale, and allows the locking on to a threat, so in turnabout, the threat becomes the target. See the examples in engagements with the Mirage 2000 C RDI in Part 3.

Rafale & SU-35 are really top of the 4.5 gen ++ fighter right now .
It woould be good for China if they really get Su -35 to challenge Rafale

The video shows Rafales cameras catching glimpses of F22 momentarily at various times. This means the F22 was in Visual Range which is indicative of a Dogfight. What is the point of having a 5th Generation fighter whose min weapon is BVR capability and weapons engaging in a DOGFIGHT.

this video depicts rafale did manage to make a kill against f22 in a dog fight only .How can someone post a video about bvr warfare ,use your commonsense

Bvr warfare has been proven against planes whose pilots barely knew how to do evasive manuveurs,
planes having no proper functioning RWR & electronic warfare suite .

So dont think BVR warfare would only be fought by 5th gen fighters only , with future stealth fighters coming the future aerial warfare would be fought more in WVR warfare than bvr warfare as Kill probabilty would decrease even further at bvr range warfare.

SO dog fight would still live.

Why would China need the Su-35 when it can do the same thing with J-15, J-16, and J-10B?

Mock dogfights, in which both teams limit their modus operandi and aircraft capabilities, are nothing representative of modern day combat. PAF F-16s managed to defeat Typhoons as well but that does not mean PAF F-16s will experience the same kind of odds in real warfare.

And please look in a mirror when accusing someone of daydreaming.

The premise of your post is retarded.

You trying to show how great a Rafale is versus an F22.

A 1970's F-16 A/B can rip F22 apart in a Dogfight.

Does that make the F16 superior to F22 ?

F22 wasn't designed for Dogfights my friend.

. .
Is the pilot in the video has a heart prblem because he was breathing hard.
People tend to do that when under high G force. Go to an amusement park and ride the roller coaster. You will also experience the same sensation although to a lesser degree.
