After China fuking Japan, you call China agressive and dangerous country. USA nuked your sh!t out of @ss, now they become your peace protector. That's a wonderful story and case.
Japan lost the war and was stripped of its military capabilities not only to the interests of the US but also to the interest of the rest of Asia as they didn't want to see a Japan that was reconstructing themselves successfully to became militarily capable again. So Japan throughout the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s, Japan kept military capabilities low and legeslatively forbidden basically on the same premise to not invoke concerns about the past. You should know that. So I don't understand why you make a point about Japan being militarily weak? So because Japan was no longer a player in security affairs out of everyone's interest, naturally America would be left with the duty to ensure security and stability throughout the region for all that time.
But now the US, Australia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Vietnam, Singapore, and India all are embracing a new change Japan is taking in order to become a player in regional security affairs. America will always be the bigger country. There's no way for a Japan that has little metal resouces and almost no energy natural resources to became a mega power like America. But Japan still has a lot of capabilities to offer to any partner nations, and there are many.
