All these except probably for karachi are ancient cities... aswell as cities like taxila,thatta,makli etc

but no one else.. not mughals not british had full control of this size of the sub continent. a few hundred yrs is not much.
the fact that modern day india gets inspiration from these great hindu/buddhist kings says a lot about the relevance.
