Nawaz accuses security establishment of orchestrating his ouster, bringing Imran to power

First of all the fact that you think a current account deficit can be covered with 'tax money or import duties' tells me all I need to know about your economic knowledge.

Think I have to start from scratch. Current account essentially relates to the amount of dollars coming into the country vs the amount going out. Now Pakistan cannot print dollars, but it does need dollars to trade with the rest of the world. What should it do? It tries and earn them through exports and also depend on the benevolence of overseas Pakistanis who send their hard earned money to Pakistan in the form of much needed dollars. Now Pakistan uses these dollars to pay for imports. In a very basic sense the equation becomes:

exports + remittances - imports = current account

There are other factors too but lets keep it simple. Now during the previous government our current account was in a deficit of 20 billion dollars. The trade deficit (imports - exports) was touching $40b and remittances were only at around $20b. How do you envision the government would pay this gap of $20b? The Nooras took loans and plenty of them.

When PTI took over these loans had not only become matured there weren't alot of dollars left in the country to continue on the same path. This is what why you saw IK going to friendly countries asking for bail out AND severe devaluation in the currency took place. He wasn't begging for himself. He was begging for YOU and the rest of the nashukri quam, so that your head remains above the water and that you don't have to pay Rs500 for a single naan. That is also why IK's government had to go to IMF.

Now what did the PTI government do to curb the $20b current account deficit? For starters remittances were incentivized to be channeled through official means. Hawala hundi business was cracked down on and offices of forex dealers participating in shady businesses were raided. This all led to remittances increasing to $21b in FY19 from $20b in FY18, and then to $23b in FY20. So far in FY21, remittances are 20-30% higher than FY20. I hope we breach the level of $25b by the end of the year.

The next factor in the equation is imports. PML-N government took imports of goods and services to $67b, we were importing everything from expensive cheese to mineral water to fancy cosmetics. If you earn a middle class income and you go out and buy a Ferrari you wouldn't survive very long. Same principles apply to countries. The PTI government severely curbed unnecessary imports and increased taxes and tariffs on luxury items. Devaluing the currency and high interest rate also discouraged imports. This is all lead to imports dropping from $67b in FY18 to $42b in FY20.

Exports growth has lagged behind since you cannot just build industry in a day or even a year, with the strict monetary policy the exporters didn't even have funds available to invest and enhance capacity or to set up new ventures. That being said, even with the covid shock our exports have held their ground and not plummeted like India and Bangladesh. Early signs for this fiscal year are good and we may match the performance of previous couple of years. Obviously need of the hour is to increase exports substantially, but PTI are having to start from scratch because during the PML-N government exports of goods fell from $25b in 2013 to $23b in 2018 showing signs of deindustrialization in the country.

Also since you mentioned "tax money" jeeringly, I'll let you know that last fiscal year was the first time FBR collected over Rs 4000b in taxes. The target was Rs 5000b and we were on track for that as well but with corona hitting and zero economic activity in the last quarter we fell short of the target. In FY21, the target is again Rs 5000b and the revenue collection numbers for the first quarter show that we are exceeding the target so far.

Hope my post helped fill the massive gaps in your knowledge.
so we borrowed money then? we will have to pay it nonetheless.
lets rejoice on that performance. add some insults to opposition job done.

you could've saved your self having to write a war story. there was nothing substantial to suggest in exports or foreign remittances.

Omg that is what you took from the post.

How is this guy a "senior moderator" @WebMaster?

Go back and read my post again, and this time slowly taking your time.

Does anyone remember when Nawaz rejected to meet Kashmiri separatist leaders when he went to attend Modi oath ceremony along with his entourage and advisors for sugar mills? Politics aside but we are really the victims of short term memory syndrome. And does anyone remember Nawaz blaming Military for Mumbai attacks? Or does anyone remember him totally ignoring Kalbhushan and in fact supported Indian move to ICJ by way of deliberate negligence at home? Or does anyone remember his meeting with Jindal?

I mean he was ousted or not but how can anyone forget his corruption and all the above facts? Please, stop killing Pakistan for your own personal likes or political affiliation. Why apparently political followers are blindly falling for propaganda and becoming the part of anti Pakistan war as such? Have we lost that much that we can't differentiate between wrong and right? How come became so senseless and mindless? Think before covering their wrongs merely for the sake of it.

Thats what federation means their is no local and every one local so dont say things that you have no idea what you saying. people can have reasonable questions or criticizing but who ever have grudge is not honest to from where he belongs, just like people in damam citizen but praize other country thats what we have situation in ANP MQM PPP and Noon league so others uses them and throw them after use just like tissue. so complaint but dont act like you are the only one whos right/.
So you calling everybody is being used pmln ,pop, anp, pkmap or whatever ? Or they are traitor since they don't agree with style of government ..by this logic majority of Pakistanis are used ...
About local things , we can agree to disagree but yes there are locals you can not convert gawadar into Punjabi dominated city or Sindh into another ...you can't convert locals into minority ...
So there are locals and non locals but yes being in federation everybody is allowed to move and stay or worked anywhere..
[/QUOTE]
You know thats not possible that if pathan moves to lahore he will remain pathan but speaks punjabi cuz its a need or requirment kind of to live there to indulge, so no person from Karachi, Lahore moving to Gwadar just to convert majority people those who move their either for investment or middle class for opportunity you cant upgrade peoples lives by not upgrading the area and to build people will come every part of Pakistan or even foreigners,
you are not stoping locals to live or killing them check the demography of big cities from 100 years to now, you arguing the same way skin head do in Uk Aus or anyother parts.
Another thing about being against country or critisizing are two different things anyone cant critisize for betterment but no one have right to say things against country where they eat live grow if someone dont like the way of life their just simply move out but like Altaf zardari Nawaz their snakelets looted money from Pakistan become richest and now they come on top of our heads and threatning us that they will not accept the way it is if they are in power this whole system become best but since they are not they threat us to open secrets, Mariam and bablu dablu even wrote a letter to india to help them in 1999.
we maybe have alot of problems but these skunks are not acceptable to stay in power for decades and later on they threat us to open our secrets.

clean up your computer. no amount of hating on Nawaz or PPP etc will excuse the current Govt from its hopeless situation.
Maybe. They've been firefighting since day 1. When on a sinking ship what would you do?

.
sure check out the prices of medicine food and utility
May i add on this part?
You do realize that most of the prices of common day commodities are hiked not by the government (to some extent yes) but not what the hoarders and munafukhors have done. Now let me give you this news, names of some very top tycoons have been identified, their calls and txts to senior political members of certain political parties have also been traced supported by certain black sheep's sitting in the bureaucracy. These people will get what's coming for them.
As for utilities, I dont know if you remember but N league kept the gas prices stagnant the entire period of their rule leaving Gas department absolutely devastating. N league did this for political mileage because they knew they are not forming the next government so why not throw the baggage on the next government. See this is the kind of haram khors we have been dealing with. In front of their own interests, country interest can go to hell.
Now the easy way for PTI government would have been to let it slide and continuing borrowing until every thing in Pakistan gets owned by IMF, instead he chose the difficult way out which led to people chanting all sort of things against him but not realizing who left this mess and that it will take time to sort out the mess of past 30 plus years.
As for medicines, do you know that most companies stopped manufacturing medicines altogether because again the government wasn't allowing increase in price and companies no longer found it to be economically viable to manufacture those drugs in Pakistan. Hence we started facing drug shortages as well and we had to get them imported again loss in foreign exchequer. The government asked them to start manufacturing those drugs again and allowed them an increase in price though still cheaper of what would it cost on an imported counterpart.
Yes these things hurt, but than again who is responsible? You say PTI needs to come down from container but the fact is PTI does not have any magic wand to suddenly make Pakistan's problems disappear. The nation was happily sleeping while looters continued to plunder Pakistan, had we woken up sooner, things might not have been that bad. So all is not lost but we need to be patient. Its not like everything is gloomy and there are positive indicators. I am not asking you to go through government figures, international figures Moody. WB are there as well. Internationally Pakistan is being praised for a lot of things as well.
And lastly while we tend to criticize government on 2 years performance, we tend to forget the challenges both domestic as well as international including our conflict with India that is still very high and than came Corona which has decimated the economies of the developed world, let alone a third world country like Pakistan. So please give credit where its due.

we wont be discussing General Nawaz if he was not allowed to leave Pakistan by Gen Bajway!

so thankyou General Bajway!

In the long term, the solution to Pakistan's never ending political crises is to discard democracy altogether. Democracy only works in a society of educated and intelligent people. Pakistan isn't a democracy it's a peasant-ocracy. The illiterate and stupid rural peasant majority keep electing Sharifs and Bhuttos and their cronies. Reform democracy so that only a city dwelling, university educated, Pakistani Sunni male can cast a ballot.

this is why we voted for Imran to grab these hoarders by the collar and cut their bellies with a butcher knife and gut out all the profits made at the expense of the people.
standing on a side and complaining wont help us. if Govt is not up to the task then it must step down.
we already knew the challenges before PTI stepped off the containers and took the helm. it promised us across the board accountability , transparency and public welfare.

what we have instead is complaining about opposition and misleading out of context figures to claim good news and absolute blunders and mismanagement from one crises to another,

Yes because everything was so great under dictatorships.

The problem isn’t that democracy has failed, but that it has never been allowed to work. No single PM in our history has ever been allowed to complete a full term. And even during their short life expectancy, they are all continually undermined by generals.

the dogs are in the PTI government as well this is why the stench wont go away.
look at sugar, wheat and medicine crises and one way or another you will see that the path leads to these scumbags who are out of reach of NAB because they are part of the government.

Nawaz is a shrewd politician. he will break his agreement before the ink dries on the paper he signed. I wont blame Imran because he was not in the loop. it was a sole GHQ initiative although GHQ has multiple examples of his habitual betrayals but they let him sting on their arse once more. PPP , you noticed, was reluctant and tentative (relatively) since PDM has gone on streets? because they know Nawaz will stab them without blinking if it suits him.

Pakistan has the one protecting savior institution it needs, and no one else can be allowed this privilege. Why complicate matters?

They've never been allowed to complete their full terms because as soon as they get into office they start looting the coffers and enriching themselves. They are bound to come into conflict with the law enforcement authorities despite how corrupt the latter are.
Pakistan is a country of illiterate serfs that haven't even fully been Islamized. Only the educated urban Pakistanis are informed enough to have the competency to vote. The rest of those serfs need to be disenfranchised, especially the ones in Sindh.
