This is my last post in this thread.

I've only one question. Which part of Indian Ocean borders China so as to protect it ?..

.
@chinapakistan : indian ocean and all the others belong to everyone yet there is something called "strategic defence".
Yet to be deployed ins Arihant is causing trouble to pakistan which is no where close to pakistan, 3 years away frm launch.

So friend why wont a country having NFU POLICY be troubld when a nuclear sub belonging to a country with which we already had wars and have disputes over land , enters in waters close to our shores?

Plz tell me will this concern of our navy differ in case of pakistan navy or chinese nayy if ins arihant says hullo from 1 mile away nar ur territory lying in international waters,

with 4 certain carriers by 2025, 6 nuclear subs , u212/214 in pipelin ,P8s coming and 40 other ships under construction indian navy will be certainly a undisputed king of the region.

Disappointing.

Your answer is what i respect. India should concern it.:yahoo:
And stop talking futrue, futrue can not be predicated. Do you think only indian raise millitory??? And your nuclear sub is underdeveloping with no nuclear engine...... You just lease one from Russia. And your GDP, industry infrastructure and worker effection is very weak... I dont know if indian can sovle these problem in the futrue.

Last words for you: Dreaming is good , but if you can not make the dream become true...It will just become a joke for laughing just like your PM did that many times.

Hey, buddy, I am trolling. Evering i posted is related to this thread.
And i am so confued why indian blam that chinese sub entering indian ocean. Why chinese sub can not patrol indian ocean since indian and US are doing so? The same ocean, and the equal legal right to enter it. I am so confused, can any one answer me?

Understand the article correctly no one is Saying Indian Ocean belongs to us, all it saying is we should have decent control on it.

.
While legally, you can, if you wanna do that, try it, and i am very insterested at china's reaction aslo.
But it has not happend, the fact is india now is blaming china patrolling a ocean which china has right to patrol it...

dont you think you are kind of contradicting yourself??? As you just said that legally Indian submarines can enter however china will be alarmed(what else could be chinese reaction...they are not going to say welcome my friends) however when India is alarmed on chinese submarines presence in Indian Ocean you seems to have problems... Did anyone say there presence is illegal or have we try to :sniper: them down??? We are just alarmed and need more submarines so that we have enough for defense and offense...What part of this is putting you off????

.
@ chinapakistan - i think we were talking in 'if and what if', no chinesese sub is close to india nor did i say arihant is sailing..i sad 3 yrs frm deployment.

If u are interested in a good debate dont mix speculative statements with factuals.

Coming to the facts, the arihant reactor is ready, actually 2 in number.

weak gdp? Is 7.75 percent weak in these recession times?
Plz tell me how many countries of world have this growth and if this ir weak wha do u say about economies of pakistan and bangladesh?

also if 7.75% is weak what is ur asserment for the chinese growth of 9% relative to eachother.

Please stay specific.
Thank you.

The US subs are around territorial water of China. China is not alarmed. Well, first, China have to detect it and it might not do anything if its smart.

In 2025, the 5th fleet will still be the preeminent power in the Indian ocean. You can bet on that. I do not even have to put in the details :usflag:

Yes you are right....first they have to detect them....and ofcourse they are alarmed...what made you say they are not??? However alarming does not mean that you will start running from pillar to post....if you what i mean...

@faithfulguy
i have no doubt about ur navy getting strongr but they would certanly not tinker around 3 indian aircraft carriers when chinese havent revealed plans for just one.

the P8 possidens are enough to keep subs away.

PLAN is far more capable than india, but having said this since india wil have 3 nuclear subs with 3 carriers it wont be wise to make room for any unwanted confrontation especialy when IN is fielding such massive machines.

i personally think that though both nations will increase military power the economic prosperity will bring them closer.

patrolling with nuclear submarines tats a good one

and please not chinese have defensive doctrine

There are some mistakes in the report.

The report mentions the current PN sub fleet as 5.

which includes 3 Augosta 90 and 2 Augosta 70.

By 2012 the Indian sub numbers are 9 and how?

Only 2 Foxtrots will be decommissioned which will make the number as 14. Which other 5 subs will be out? At the same time by 2012 INS Arihant and INS Chakra will be commissioned which means the number will be still 16.

Where as by 2012 Pakistani subs are also 5.

The Augosta-70's of PN are already 30+ years old (both of them). They both have exceeded their normal age and should retire anytime.

It also says that by 2015 India will have 8 subs and so do Pakistan.

Once Augosta 70's are gone the number will be 3. Even if they place an order for 3 more submarines today they won't be getting the same by 2015 so from where this 8 number for PN came?

Same question for IN?

BY 2012 IN will be having between 14-16 subs and the scorpene deliveries will also start by 2012.

So even if older Kilo's start getting decommissioned, Scorpene's will start replacing them an plus there will be more ATV's by 2015.

So where from all these numbers came from?

Where the Scorpène submarines outscores the Agosta

The Scorpion has an increased diving depth of 370m as compared to the Agosta 90B's 320m, and has no limitations on operations at maximum depth due to the increased usage of high-yield stress-specific steel in its construction. Submerged, the Scorpene is quieter than most submarines due to the utilization of advanced hydrodynamics with an albacore bow shape, with fewer appendages and an optimised propeller. Placing systems on elastic mountings further minimizes noise.

Where the Scorpene particularly scores over the Agosta 90B is in its stealth capabilities. Unlike the Agosta, which is a modification of a three-decade old design, the Scorpene incorporates the latest in hydrodynamics, damping and stealth technologies to reduce its noise signature, thereby greatly increasing its detection capability and offensive power.

The submarine is manned by a standard crew of 31 (less than the Agosta 90B), with additional space for 6 special operations personnel. The entire operational and living area is air-conditioned, and the latest safety systems to allow for the operation of a Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle (DSRV) are present. The propulsion system consists of two diesel generation sets providing 1,250kW of power coupled with a 2,900kW electric engine.

The Scorpene can also carry more weapons than the Agosta 90B – a mix of 18 torpedoes and missiles or 30 mines. The six bow-located 21-inch torpedo tubes also have salvo launch capability, and DCNS has expressed its willingness to integrate the Brahmos cruise missile in its armoury as well, in addition to the Exocets already ordered.

While the original Agosta had not been designed keeping an AIP system in mind but had it included only in the 90B variant, the Scorpene has been designed to seamlessly integrate an AIP system. This results in increased submerged range steaming under AIP for the Scorpene as compared to the Agosta.
