BDN was also interested in Agosta 90 Type but due to Bus bombing Karachi killing french engineers, Pakistan could not offer any deal because France was not happy with Pakistan nor did Pak Govt give any compansiation to French Govt. Poor diplomacy of Pakistan has always fup our relationship with West. KSA also showed interest but their American lobby with in royals never let go killing deals for example Alkhalid MBT, Agosta 90, JF-17...it is safe to assume BDN would be able to get latest Chinese Submarines by next 7-8 years when enough funds are available to choose product from, the economy is already impressive in Asian region.

How can a sub based on 40s technology capable of firing anti ship missile? Did any of the German XXI sub capable of firing anti ship missile? Please do not misled by bogus sources. Those western explanation of Type 035 sub , know nothing and just typical cut and paste from 40 years old data.

Type 035G: Program begun in 1985, and the first unit with pennant number 356 was lunched in 1989, service in December 1990, and state certification received in 1993. This is the first Type 035 series to have anti-submarine (ASW) capability. The primary weaponry for Type 035G is Yu-3 torpedo, and French sonar DUUX-5 and its Chinese built version were used on later units, 12 of which were completed between 1990 to 1999. The last unit with pennant number 308 was lengthened by 2 meters to add a section for AIP tests.

If BD buys the 035G version, they are basically still quite new and they are no 40s technology. Special tiles are added on surface to reduce sonar detection, same as Kilo. The anti ship capabilites maybe added on to constant upgrade the sub.

Not sure why would first time subs buyers would for primary reason training and secondary petrolling order $300m each submarines which makes no sense thus the better decision is to buy refurbished subs with a lot of tech from 2000s its not like these subs are being not upgraded at all. You get what you pay for and what the requirnments are...what were other options russians subs? No matter what you should be glad BN economy is stable in coming years BD would be able to procure better latest equipment 2022-2025 at best is not far away BD should be able to order latest subs after familiarity with current order.

You have to remember that asides from buying this subs, BD have to set up a submarine base costing TK 1500 crores,This two submarine will cost another 1500 crore.So this package alone will cost tk. 3000 crore or 400 million USD. Considering the limited defence budget of Bangladesh this is not small amount,besides bangladesh which have no prior experiance operating subs. introducing costly modern submarine might be a bit risky. And Bangladesh navy has other procurement list besides submarine for example frigate, corvette, maritime aircraft etc.

So all of this consideration above BD simply can't afford newer model subs. which may cost 500-600 million usd. Bangladesh at first should gain experience by operating this then after few years should look for newer more capable submarine.

Even latest Chinese subs are not cheap and if it were Agosta purchase it would have been even more expensive compared to Chinese option since french tech is proven reliable.So $200m vs 600m max is hell of a difference my personal opnion is it is a good deal.

It was far better to get training from PN and buy submarines from China in a license production agreement of at least 6 submarines.

What are you talking about? Of course there are other subs even SSBN's but you need a solution to solve your problem right? BD is not fighting any big war soon, even if so then other countries including China will come to help. BDN is beginning to use sub, will grow step by step, and has to responsible to taxpayers' money. That's what the BDN guys are doing, you should give them credit instead of typing non-sense from your keyboard, pay some respect to your navy guys.
