What's new

Navy, Army and IAF finally agree to procure armed drones from US in $3 bn deal

The second tranche which was ordered after signing those will have the upgraded equipment and also an ability to share data and communicate with US Boeing P8A's
No. The second tranche was executed as a follow on order which was made available in the original contract. That means no changes to the hardware are allowed.

The P-8s might incorporate US comm equipment when they are upgraded.

biggest aid recipient of the world from the west/USA telling us that:lol: your Kolkata/shivailk class isn't even top 10 world frigates and destroyers, they too much foreign components on it, from AESA/ECM/ESSM to weapon/engines etc etc, poor indian:lol:

Eat this for breakfast

Top 10 Destroyers | Military-Today.com (military-today.com)

I believe the Kolkatta class is ranked 4th

Hey its not even a Indian source

Please remove your hatred filled bias ....... WE ARE building and inducting Word class ships

BY THE WAY the design looks nothing like Russia or USA ships

India has its ow unique swadeshi design
Actually delivery cost to USAF was $14m 5 years ago according to USAF MQ-9 specialist, so production cost could be even lower than that.

That figure is grossly wrong

MQ-9 Reaper > U.S. Air Force > Fact Sheet Display (af.mil)

This artcile shows the later much enhanced versions in 2015 ( 6 years ago ) costing $64 million in a USA artcile ..........ie USA military paying $64 million each fully armed

THE 2021 will surely be much closer to $100 million and will be even more lethal

AGAIN i repeat ............. take the envy away .......... Admit the power and influence of the indian GDP military budget allows your enemy to spend billions annually on be it drones , rafales, P8 posedions , C17 globemaster or indian built subs and destroyers ..........THAT is WHY india is ranked a regional power

Verified ex Indian officers who are on twiiter and write for Indian publications are Pakistanis? Basically men who have served your country and hold a contrary view are labelled Pakistani? No wonder your whole country is going crazy....

Great news! More $$$$ for US R&D and less $$$$ for Indian R&D. Keep it up

$100m per aircraft? There must be an error, or that's just insane

Well when you have more money and little skill then you try to buy the costliest shiny thingy out there thinking it can overcome your skill shortage and help with your insecurity.
It doesn't...
That's still insane. Per MQ-9 costs like $15m to produce by the company, basicly rest of the cash is pure profit.

It's called Pay to Win
Only works in Games.

Top officials usually receive kickbacks or are honey trapped to buy useless weapons from Amerika ijreal for 10 times the cost.
I hope India will leave that useless road that only feeds US defence industry for no reason, and instead start cooperating with Turkey. India and indian people deserve better deals, planning and future.

Turkey at the moment is out of equation for obvious reasons, local manufacturing is the only way forward for Indian defence industry. Before that these useless generals need to be show there exact place, feed them with local maal against there sponsored love of foreign maal specially ameriki n ijrili.

I don't think so... The initial order was of 8 planes
The follow up as included in the original contract was of 4 planes (which are being delivered rn)

That batch of 12 has Indian equipment.

And then a couple of years back India signed another deal for 6 more planes, These ones after COMCASA etc had been implemented and such these planes would carry more advanced communications

So in a few years the Navy should have 18+ P8Is, 24 MH-60Romeos and 10-12 MQ9Bs giving a huge boost to its surveillance, ISR, ASW, ASHW capabilities from a decade ago

We don't have a single defense partner and we don't intend to

As of today we're inducting Indian, Russian and French Jets

Building Turkish, Indian, French and Russian Naval designs

Buying American, Israeli and Indian drone, surveillance systems

Using Indian, Russian and American weapon systems.

Making Indian, Scandinavian and South Korean vehicles and much more

As long as the force keeps modernizing (which it is) and indigenous capabilities and products keep rising (which they are) the rest doesn't matter

The current CDS has also improved the synergy between acquisitions of various forces and added some much needed leadership at the top of the pile

No additional P-8s have been contracted for after the initial 8+4 (12).

The final FMS sale hasn't gone through yet but the letter of request has been sent and Boeing has gotten permission from Congress , final negotiations are going on for the 1.8 Bil$ deal and it should be finished in the next couple of months ,with deliveries beginning after 2022 by which time the last of the original 12 should get delivered . make no mistake they are definitely coming

India prefers a staggered delivery schedule to bring up facilities at Port Blair and Hansa which will be the other bases for this besides the primary base at Arakonnam .
