GHALLANAI: The US-led NATO forces in Afghanistan Monday unlawfully entered Pakistani territory and seized a hilltop in Sheikh Baba in the upper Mohmand Agency.
Sources in the political administration confirmed the entrance of the NATO forces in the area and taking control of the well-known summit 'Spina Suka' in Sheikh Baba.

'Spina Suka' is a place situated in one of the two contentious areas where there is no certified Durand Line. One place of conflict is situated in Chaman, Quetta and another is in Mohamand Agency on Pak-Afghan border. Occasionally there is tension and exchange of firing between Pakistani forces and NATO troops.

"The choppers of the collation forces are flaying in the air which is spreading fear and terror among us and our families," locals told the Statesman.
The intentions of the NATO forces are pretty clear that they want to establish a post there and launch operation against the local Taliban in FATA near Pak-Afghan border, locals said.
The new development came a day after US unmanned spy planes were seen flying in the air in tribal areas near Pak-Afghan border.
In the areas adjoining the Durand Line, including North Waziristan, South Waziristan, and Bajaur Agency, American drones have increased aerial violations.

Mujahideen, it has been strongly condemned. Again, the issue is to make sure that NATO realizes that such acts will only alienate them and reduce support fro their mission.
Do you realize how much the Taliban are going to reap propaganda wise from this?
We do not want confrontation, we want respect and we get respect when the entire country gets behind an issue, and we can accomplish that without resorting to military action or breaking off ties.
Will we adopt some of Muse suggestions? Probably not this time around, but if it happens again public pressure is goign to build, and the GoP's denials will only go so far before they have to make some public statements along the lines of what Muse suggested, but also not break the alliance with NATO or our support for their efforts.

The hell with the F-16's. We lived without them before and we can again. We defended our country without them before and we can do them again. These F-16's are not worth more the blood of our soldiers. We will not trade the blood of our soldiers for F-16's.

Afghan forces tried to set up a post on a disputed part of the territory, they got attacked by both the FC and possibly Taliban (the Afghans should not have tried the provocation) the cowards called in air support indicating that they were being attacked by Taliban only, or perhaps the airstrike knew that there were Pakistanis soldiers and did not care.

Details of the clash remained unclear late Wednesday, but it apparently pitted Afghan troops against a combination of Pakistani soldiers and Taliban insurgents.

Fighting erupted Tuesday evening when Afghan troops tried to establish a check post near the village area of Sheikh Baba in the Mohmand tribal region, along the knife's-edge border between the two countries, according to local villagers and Pakistani military officials.

Taliban militants apparently opened fire and were then joined by Pakistani military forces, setting off an hours-long battle. It is unclear what prompted the exchange of fire.

The skirmish at the edge of Pakistan's restive tribal areas expanded further when Afghan soldiers called NATO forces for air support, and U.S. military aircraft reportedly launched a strike in the area. ...

... At least nine Pakistani Taliban fighters and one child were killed during the clash, according to Maulvi Omar, a spokesman for the Pakistani Taliban.

Omar said Taliban fighters captured seven Afghan soldiers during the operation.

"We have inflicted heavy damages," Omar said. The Taliban spokesman said Islamist insurgents fought "side by side" with Pakistani soldiers against the Afghan forces during the operation.

What does everyone think of the statements by the NATO command and the local eyewitness on Page 2 of this article? Were the FC assisting militants in a cross-border incursion (which seems to be what NATO is claiming?)

Damagh Khan Mohmand, a local tribesman who witnessed the fighting, said that it lasted for four hours, with Afghan and foreign forces trading fire with the Pakistani militants and with the Pakistan troops.

Two aircraft bombed several locations, hitting two FC paramilitary posts, said Mr Khan Mohmand. He added that he saw drones flying over the area.

Oh please this is just an excuse. They know what they did and they knew what they were doing. The Taliban are just an excuse.

We dont need them, if they carry out acts like these. The aggreement was that they will not violate our soverignty, but they have. We lived without them before an we can again.
