What's new

Nation building activities of the Pakistani Army

Actually they do do that I have lived in a cantonement and things were cheaper their but I have also read about contract being given to Fauji cement without proper tenders being conducted how can they be a separate entity then.

Was the contract given by the Army or someone else to Fuji Cement?

BTW if it is getting the contract directly what has Army to do with it?

I meant for the construction of PAF houses a company once lodged a complain that was rubished though it said that PAF houses got a cement contract from Fauji group, however I have clarified that it is untrue and i am sure our army is on the right side and I supported them though I was simply passing on things I read and accusations that are layed out.

A person logged complaint!!!
is this all about your facts?
Fauji foundation is the biggest investor in Pakistan.
It have full liberty to choose its investment destination but yet it choose Pakistan... Fauji foundation is the biggest stake holder in Pakistan.
Unlike, Sharif and Zardari family have only few suitcases of clothes in Pakistan.

I really wonder what is the job of civilians in the nation building and service sector?

Well first things first Military rule was in place so the courts were obviously going to give every ruling in their favour secondly the very fact you mentioned that Fauji foundation is suspicious considering that there are many makers of cement that are part of the capitalist society and have not been able to show profits at the same level.

.
There is no business entity in the world which is following their respective govt. laws and regulations. Fauji Foundation is one of the most rspected entity in Pakistan.

Due to its size and number of employees, one or two incidents are actually not a big deal.

"Well first things first Military rule was in place so the courts were obviously going to give every ruling in their favour"

So finally Bane Blade agrees that SJ and Ch. Iftikhar gave verdict in favour of PA. :)

Bruv these things get passed by Justice of the peace aka Magistrates although I don't know your age but I must say that if you think Iftikhar Chaudry would deal with cement contracts then take a nice rest and then come back to post again after thinking clearly.

I don't care who Iftikhar Chaudry gives decison in favour of I only care to see that no cheif justice however horrible isn't removed by anyone elected or forcefull leader

Well i don;t understand how these projects are harming the country.

People like it when a politician or other big dude opens a commercial project, who is likely to commit fraud and corruption, but when the military does it (who is for sure not going to do stupid things) people feel 'bad'.

i think that's only the gut feeling usually.

The next episode..( i know this will even piss off many others :))

another question. profit earned by these organisations, is that spent on expansion of these businesses or acquiring military hardware or both?? now i know how our military is strong enough to defend us from any external threat. will i be right to say that total profits earned by all these organisations will almost be equal to that of our military budget which is something lik Rs. 300bn or am i being stupid??

Well bro as i have never been part of these outfits, so i not sure about the details, but i think that the profit mainly is utilized to the run the organization itself, because no serving personnel serve these organization, and the remaining profit probably goes to the Army, but it is utoilized in stuff like construction of roads, welfare projects etc etc for which usually the govt dont pay for nor they form part of the defence budget.

From where do you think the free medical camps and road links have been established in the remotest areas of this country?

Appreciate the good works of army.
But still why do they have to control cement, steel mills and the like?

They don't control it.

The main aim of these projects was to absorb the ex-servicemen, which they do, i don't know anything that these projects exercise some sorta control over the the entire industry of a specific produce.

And then you go on and on about the equality and fairness.......

i think it serves many purposes...
better life for ex-servicemen,
employment for civilians,
funds for strategic projects which are not funded by gov.

western armies dont need to have such a setup coz their country's infrastructure is already fully developed. also wat they get from their respective govts is enough to take care of the welfare of their men. now in our case we lack both. neither is our infrastructure fully developed and also our military budget is very very less compared to our rival.
if u compare our soldier with indian soldier, ours is much better off. i read a news on 'times of india' that indian soldiers in kashmir have been gettin used uniforms. youth has lost interest in joinin army coz of poor conditions in which an army officer has to live in etc etc

Army officers don't live in poor conditions and the other countries you mentioned were not developed due to their army but due to the capitalist mind set of growth and prosperity.

i shouldnt have used to word poor. wat i meant was that indian army officers and soldiers are less better off than ours coz our army has got many welfare programes which are being funded by these organisations owned by army. also im not talkin about development. wat i mean is that those countries have got gud infrastructure and their army doesnt have build roads to connect strategic points with the rest of the country. in our case most part (where battle is faught) of the northern areas were inaccessable and therefore army was required to build roads and communication network. also we as a third world country have got one of world's best army. all that couldnt have been achieved only from the money provided by the gov.
even if we ignore all this, i still dont think if there is anything wrong with army owning such organistaions. all the investment they are making is only goin to our economy
