Narendra Modi targets PM, alleges UPA govt damaging India's federal structure
Mounting a sharp attack on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Friday accused the Centre of inflicting "maximum damage" on the country's federal structure and said UPA government should not last "even a moment longer".
"There is no scope for any of our dreams getting fulfilled when such a government is in power at the Centre," Modi told a public rally organised by BJP here on conclusion of its national executive meeting.
"The government in Delhi has nothing to do with the sentiments of the common man. This government should not last a moment longer. The longer it remains in power, the more it will endanger the country," Modi charged.
Expressing concern over the rapid devaluation of the Rupee, Modi said, "this (devaluation) looks like a conspiracy. I am in the government. I know that the Rupee doesn't get devalued like this." "Why doesnt the currency of other neighbouring countries fall so rapidly," he asked.
The UPA government, Modi alleged, has caused "maximum damage" to India's federal structure. The government is snatching power from the states and strengthening the Centre".
"The Prime Minister says we will have to improve ties with the states. This means that their ties with states were never good," he said.
Opposing National Counter Terrorism Centre, Modi said "why cannot the Prime Minister monitor the funding terrorists get from abroad as the Centre controls the borders and communication".
There is not a single Congress-led state government in the list of top 5 states implementing the 20-point programmes, Modi claimed.
He flayed the Communal Violence Bill and expressed concern over the reduction in span of Amarnath Yatra.
BJP President Nitin Gadkari claimed BJP-led NDA will return to power in 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
"In Congress-ruled states, there is 14 to 16-hour load-shedding whereas in BJP-governed states of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh there is no power shortage", he claimed.
He claimed the Sena-BJP government in Maharashtra had done tremendous development work like Pune-Mumbai Expressway, Bandra-Worli sea link and flyovers in Mumbai.
As long as Congress is in power, corruption, price rise and unemployment will continue, Gadkari charged.
BJP leader Arun Jaitley alleged "there is no leadership in the government. There is policy paralysis."
"Every day, there is a new instance of corruption", Jaitley said referring to 2G spectrum and coal allocation scams.
He charged the country is "paying the price for the flawed vision of Jawaharlal Nehru on Kashmir issue".....
