What's new

Myanmar receives Thunders !

.
Why are news of licensed production in Myanmar circulating? What are they going to license build just 16 planes now? Will it be even economical?
this is due to lack of understanding and just picking up buzz words to look authentic
indeed if they want to licence build 16 jets only then good luck to them. the unit cost will be very high

FC-1 Xiaolang is chinese plane whereas JF-17 is a JV. The point here is that China is the original manufacturer of the plane. It was given as JV with Pakistan where Pakistan makes some minor items and the name was also changed to JF-17 to show that it was JV. But regardless, China can still sell its FC-1X plane hich is essentially the same but without any Pakistani involvement.

Don't forget that the plane was developed by China with the name FC-1 Xiaolong. It was given as JV to Pakistan with name change of JF-17 but nevertheless, Pakistan only assembles the plane with some minor component manufacture. China very well has the rights to sell its FC-1X without the JV.

.
JF 17 roots are based on FC-1 but its a different product in the end. FC -1 evolved into JF-17. the changes are not just cosmetic but in performance as well as capability. if China does develop from FC-1 to something without Pakistani input then it will be FC-2 and something different to what Pakistan airforce wanted. this jet is developed with the input of PAF right from start. it has FC-1 as a starting template and thats pretty much it

.
Thanks a lot esp. since it proves my point of view. The reason for this question is, I had yesterday quite a nasty discussion with a most stubborn guy on my Facebook-page (https://www.facebook.com/Modern-Chinese-Warplanes-611223845748378/posts/Shaanxi) concerning the radar fit. He refused to give any quote and insisted that I'm a stupid foreigner without any knowledge ... while at the same time he insisted that Myanmar's JF-17s would use the Russian R-27 instead of the PL-12/SD-10 AAM.
You really need to stop arguing online and just ignore to move on.

. . .
I think the best outcome for China and Pakistan would be to proliferate JF-17/FC-1 fighters on the market to earn money for its aerospace industry and develop better products in the future. Pulling out of these deals would not benefit China or Pakistan in the long run.

Myanmar already has Mig-29s and had ordered SU-30s from Russia. Though it does fill a niche segment, there are alternatives in the market if they cannot get JF-17/FC-1. It is not like Myanmar would be incapable of bombing a village without the JF-17/FC-1, thus selling or not selling will not make a difference. Yes, Myanmar's airforce capabilities would increase but would it be sufficient to challenge China or Pakistan? I would say no.

If China and Pakistan doesn't make money on these deals, competitors would only get better through sales of their products, eroding the edge of China and Pakistan. Keeping an edge cannot be done through being static, one needs a well funded industry to produce more effective products, exports funds these developments. All nations with J-7 fighters are good potential customers.

All in all I am not concerned at all. If Nigeria is unstable, it might created a big market for JF-17/FC-1. Not sure exactly what is meant by "unstable", would boko haram fly these jets against others or would Nigeria start a military campaign against other nations? Either way it doesn't pose a threat to China or Pakistan.

Dude, you sound like a drug dealer saying that if he did not sell the drugs needed then someone else will.

Like I said, Bangladesh could save them all tomorrow if they wanted, but instead they closed the border and denied them basic refugee status. Then they started kissing Myanmar's @ss by pleading for "good relations" at any cost, and even trying to throw them back to Myanmar as soon as they can.

The truth is nobody cares. Myanmar is not exactly a superpower that no one could have stopped them, they just didn't care enough to do it.

If you care, you are welcome to host a Rohingya refugee in your own house.

Meanwhile, hopefully Myanmar orders some more potent weapon platforms so they can protect themselves against more Bangladeshi backstabbing. And maybe Suu Kyi will finally realize that being an American puppet is more trouble than it is worth, they could turn into another Bangladesh.

"Bangladeshi backstabbing"?

Damn, your butt-hurt at BD needs some serious Burnol.

Why is it BD who is at fault by not taking in Rohingya natives from Arakan?
Surely the fault is with the Barman savages and their No 1 backer China who helped the regime commit genocide and ethnic cleansing in 2017?

Sorry you are looking more and more ridiculous with trying to make BD look like the bad guy here.

The whole world has seen the real side of China now.

Congratulations for this export. JF-17 is a success story, never mind what detractors say. I have watched this project go from an idea in 1993 to a success that it is now.

It is a great multirole jet with a very quick turn-around time for generating multiple sorties; and it can carry a variety of munitions for various purposes. It is not a strike aircraft and therefore geared more towards defense than offense. Deploying JF-17 is not a signal of aggressive intent. It just means that the operator takes defense seriously. If an airforce has ambitious growth plan, JF-17 is a perfect fit.

JF-17 is not a major threat to Bangladesh. BAF could afford something different with perhaps a bigger payload. By deploying JF-17, Myanmar has forced Bangladesh to step up their modernization with something more expensive. Once that happens, Myanmar can work on an antidote. Point is that the Myanmar has seized the initiative and Bangladesh would feel compelled to react.
Only if India allows!!! Even if BD employs a single battalion of their paramilitary, India counters with three!!! India is obsessed with keeping a 3-to-1 advantage over BD without disturbing the other commitments!!!! The most cost effective method is to keep BD's part down....

well MiG's are good but on what basis you say MiG's are better ?
JF-17 in its block 3 configuration with AESA along with IRST, DSI with SD-10 and PL-10/15 would be deadly , MIG is a twin engine but have a significant larger RCS .. in modern Air warfare, whoever able to lock on the enemy and lunch a BVR will most likely win ..

I would prefer to see this new engine in Jf-17 block 2 of PAF first .
Arkadash-im!!! BD isn't here to fight with any external entities!!! That part is settled for good in 1971!!!! And, BD folks have no problem with it either!!!! Their army is only for ceremonial purposes...

.
Maybe in case my question got lost, but what radar does the Ruby-version have? The V1 or already V2??

Best,
Deino
no detail available .... so I think we will have to wait for some time unless some news come from Myanmar side but one thing is clear UHF/VHF antenna at JF-17M are different which might mean that they installed with Chinese suit

What is wrong with you dude?

Do you know what BD did to India in 2001?

I suggest you go and learn something before constant looking like a clueless idiot all the time

Huh, is that why almost every major nationality on this forum (Chinese, Indians, Pakistanis and Sri Lankans) all seem to have a problem with Bangladesh?

Is that why Myanmar successfully pushed over a million illegal Bangladeshis back into Bangladesh, and not one single country on Earth bothered to lift a finger to stop it? Do you think Myanmar is some superpower that nobody could have convinced them to stop?

What do you think is going to happen when India decides to do the same, with their millions of "Bengali Muslims", as well as blockading Bangladesh and cutting off the water? You going to ask for help from Donald Trump, a good friend of Modi and a fellow hater of Muslim refugees? The EU, who will promise to sit back and "mediate" as usual? If no one cared enough to stop Myanmar, who would care enough to stop that?

Yes - just the butt-hurt losers lead by the Tamil idiot that gets banned all the time!

Now, let us go to the real topic and that is your obvious butt-hurt at BD.

Myanmar got away with it so far as it has a Chinese daddy that has been protecting it so far - do not worry as the West is beginning the phase of implementing a total economic blockade on medieval savages. I would have liked a tougher stand from BD but unfortunately a lot of my countrymen are not as militaristic as I am but the savages will get their due one day soon.

.
I know ... but on the other side, what shall I do? I'm a teacher, which is - by a German adage - sometimes more a diagnosis than a profession. :p:
I can understand - I am an analyst, I can’t help but analyze everything; including my wife(I shall fail miserably Im sure).

But you haven't answered the question. Is it KLK-7 V1 or V2 on the Myanmar jets?
Depends on what they specced out. There is no transparency on the deal so we don’t know what configuration was ordered; that being said the baseline was the V2 for quite a while now. The V-1 was stopped after 30-40 jets I thinj.

So is it just a coincidence that these nationalities who normally hate each other, seem to be united in their shared dislike of Bangladesh?

You realize it's not just China and Pakistan who are selling weapons to Myanmar, but India too?

Now that is a rare achievement, getting Chinese+Indians+Pakistanis to be on the same side for once.

Pakistan is desperate for the money as their economy is doing very badly - IMF predicts GDP per capita growth down to 1% by 2023.

Indians will support anyone that is against Muslims. Anways Modi seems to have changed his tune after the idiot went to Myanmar and publicly supported the savages while they were on their mass campaign of rape and murder.

.
Just a few quick points.

1) Congrats to Pakistan and China for this export success.

2) MAF FC-1M won't be used against Rohingya obviously. That's not their purpose.

3) Despite what anyone says here, Rohingya (a.k.a. fellow muslims HAVE been ethnically cleansed at the very least due to Myanmar gov't efforts. Also no one really cares about the Rohingya unfortunately but Bangladesh was put in a tough spot and is doing the best it can. I have spoken to fellow medical professionals who have been to the region to offer aid and have heard the stories and seen the pictures. Its horrific.

4) Not really sure what all this hate is all about in regards to Bangladesh by various members of PDF. Its a nation of 160 million and those few on PDF are not representative of the collective, and neither is the current authoritarian gov't of Hasina. Also there are no evil designs by Bangladesh of any sort as one member here mentioned.

Also #FckRohingya is a VILE thing.

5) Hopefully we will see the Nigerian examples soon as well.

6) Also for the fellow Bengalis, please keep this thread on topic. Bickering on this thread is not a good look.
