Featured Myanmar gathers troops near Bangladesh border

Will Bangladesh respond with an equal military deployment or just ignore it to save money?

I doubt you will find any answer from people here had been telling "Bangladesh" defense is this and "Bangladesh" purchasing that defense equipment etc. From current regime which is an indian subservient, had been NO action to safeguard against Myanmar build up.

Arming the AA is too risky of an idea , it’s bound to backfire on us at some point since they want territory in bd as well, why not arm some more prevalent insurgencies like the on in the Shan. The goal should be to destabilize them as much as possible and hopefully far away from our border

I did not know they want territory in BD. Any group other than Muslim groups will do as long as they can destabilize Burma.

Bangladesh needs to buy more weapon and ammunition for preparation of possible war. I know Bangladesh has bought Pindad SS2 rifle so they could now evaluate Pindad 5.56 mm machine gun. This machine gun looks like quite good and should be bought in masses to guard the border region.

What territory in Bangladesh ?

Never heard of them laying claims to BD territory, could you clarify on this @Rahil Ahmed ?
My bad they don’t claim territory in BD , but still have been aggressive nonetheless. Having such a volatile presence on the border is not good no matter what way you cut it. They have been linked to riling up minorities in CHT. Not to mention assisting them would be to obvious as BD is already suspected to be help the trasnsfer of chinese arms into the Rakhine

সীমান্তে ১ হাজার সেনা মোতায়েন মিয়ানমারের! | Myanmar Army | Somoy TV

The brave people of Bangladesh led by Hasina have now another opportunity to cry out another 3 million killed when MM attacks us and take away our land. Indian BSF is killing us every day and we keep on weeping. A similar thing is happening with MM.

We may also start kowtowing MM not to kill our brave souls. This is what we are doing with India.

Plus destabilizing Rakhine state do not serve our interest because our ultimate aim is to voluntary repatriation of Rohingyas in northern Rathine from where they were driven out.

But we can explore the possibility of helping the Chin state rebels. Chin state border our Bandarban district and indegenous Christian Chin people there fighting for their rights against Burmese junta.

Of course India. It is a country with ten times the capability of ours where anti-Muslim and 'anti-Bengali/Bangladeshi Muslim' hindu extremist govt. enjoy overwhelming popular support. On the other hand, myanmar in all account is a much smaller country than Bangladesh(except land area) .

Wait until Corona epidemic subside from the public attention, Modi govt. will reactivate their CAA-NRC weapon against Bangladesh. As Modi gang can not do anything against China and Pakistan, will pick Bangladesh as the softest target to vent their frustration. We should not under estimate myanmar threat, but elevating them as our primary threat perception will be suicidal. I have said this many times here, if we can achieve the means to resisit the pressure from Hindutva India, then tackling Myanmar will not be a problem.

The bitter truth is, we are in a worst geo-strategic location possible. We are surrounded by two militarily powerful non Muslim countries who happend to be the most virulent Islamophobic country in the world. Only a 'fortress state' mentality and preparation will ensure our survival in this tough neighborhood.
South Asia is a region of religious nutters who take religion way too literally. It is only natural that anti-Muslim rhetorics sell well among ultra-Hindu nationalist voters in India.
In regards to the citizenship issue, I would only care if India actually tries to mass deport Indian Muslims into BD.

Burma have already pushed in theirs so they are a bigger threat in regards to human push-ins.
Add to that the fact that our biggest ally China leans towards Burma due to their own economic interests (gas supply, port access, etc..)

On the other hand, India selfishly alters with river water flow which does extensive damage to the livelihoods of millions of Bangladesh making India a much much bigger economic threat.

Hence this is an apples and oranges comparision.

The bottom line is India and Myanmar are unique threats that we need to deal with simultaneously.
We cannot ignore one and focus on the other.

Pray, tell us how BD will deal with at least one threat, say, MM, especially when BD Army Chief of Staff visits that country? Was it for kowtowing to get extension, I wonder? So, what is the unique method to do repulse MM aggression?

Here are just a few example initiatives a smart BD govt would take (no hope at the moment with the current low IQ thumb twiddlers):

1. Hire US lobby firms to bribe US Senators to impose tougher sanctions on Myanmar. US Senate votes are unbelievably cheap to buy. The US is more than eager to decimate exculsively Chinese-dependent countries like Burma.

2. Donate to Trump foundation for the same above reason.

3. Incentivise Western media to visit Bangladesh and highlight to them the trouble Rohingyas are causing.

4. Demonise Burma in every international forum in coordination with Western nations.

5. Thrash BAF leadership for inaction and wasting resources on vanity projects and lease/procure fighter jets on an urgent basis. Install administrators from BA and BN to revamp BAF's organisational culture.

6. Invest heavily in artillery and troop mobility platforms (standardise modern MRAP with TOT, heqvy lift helicopters, etc.) and attack helicopters. No more procurements in fokirni amounts. You can sign deals for multiple batteries of artillery for phased deliveries and payment schedules.

7. Tie in the Rohingya issue as a condition in any bilateral negotiation with India and China. Routinely shame them (diplomatically of course) for their inaction in regards to the genocide.

8. Actively invite Western militaries to hold war games in Bangladesh to put pressure on India and China. Neither India nor China want BD to become a total West-aligned nation.

9. Make full use of Turkish sympathy for Rohingya.

10. Start shooting Burmese smugglers dead.

11. Respond heavily with artillery and and other heavy weapons to decimate Burmese military/BGP outposts/positions in response to even the slightest of transgressions by Burma (e.g.- Burmese BGP firing across the border, etc..)

We all know what the outcome of a full fledged war wud be. They wud make initial gains because of Air superiority. Dhaka will get Bombed heavily and we wont be able to defend our skies comfortably cuz of Non existence of Anti air defence systems.

But eventually we will be able to mobilize a massive ground invasion force and launch an almighty counter attack that would rightfully decimate the Burmese Barbarians.

They have no chance of achieving anything, be it the deluded goal of occupying Saint Martins or whatever else. Any act of aggression by Myanmar will most certainly result in only one end, the occupation of Rakhine by the Bangladeshi Army.

Any war with Myanmar with shitty BAF would mean the death of Chittagong city.

You can kiss the economy bye bye after that.

They should get that MRSAM, and beef up BAFs presence in Chittagong and Cox Bazar, they will hit these two places like anything.

BD would have to take the initiative and cross the naff quickly and establish presence.

We can neutralise the monkey airforce with SAM, BAF wont be able to do much. BN needs to to be heavily active and take out their navy.

It will cost us but the monkeys can be beaten. SAM is the key.

Burma has air superiority but they don't have enough air power to cause the "death of Chittagong city". Having said that it looks like our political leadership will never understand the importance of having a strong military unless such an event plays out.
