I was literally typing about Kerala hving 24 hours electricity when i lost power.....

Lols......There is no official power cut for the past 3 years....... But come May 17th there will be powercut..... Monsoon this year was not encouraging..... The heat is one of the worst in recent memories..... Reservoirs are below 50% capacity (idukky 28%) ..... No rain expected in summer....... Electricity consumption is all time high....... I expect 1 hour powercut at least after election.....

Rahul will NOT be the PM candidate in 2019.That is certain. Congress knows it is too weak to win a full majority as the UPA.

And thusnthey will be promoting a PM candidate from the third front parties-someone like Nitish Kumar for example or they will support a third front in govt with once in every 18 months shuffling of PM posy

Populism,emphasis on rural areas,jobs and reservation in the private sector+ increasing the ambit is what they could be focussing on going by recent statements (election campaigning time)

Add to that angry and disillusioned allies who feel their concerns have not been answered in the BJP camp in 2019 will hurt it

Yes they do, local Substations do have capacitor banks and unloaded synchronous motors to compensate for the reactive load but even that is applicable to certain limits. you can Imagine that there is no way to compensate for all the reactive power. (Individual compensation is the best way to go about it, but its pretty useless in Global and sector compensation modes as sudden load changes may again screw up the system with over compensation) The More Suitable way is to go for distributed generation so the the long transmission lines don't play up, Yes we have HVDC to compensate for that but how many cost prohibitive HVDC line are there in the country?

What POSOCO is doing is rather good right now is the implementation of PMUs (Phasor Monitoring Units, Smart Grid solutions) which give real time data on grid and Load distribution from the grid can be made more effective. So that is one way to go ahead. but its also an infrastructure challenge as the electricity demand-supply grows, a huge task ahead.



Please refrain from extrapolating anecdotal references to entire systems/populations. Whether or not theft is taking place is mere an result of 1. Individual Inclination (kleptomania ) 2. The simple desire to have something Free 3. Ugly sense of Socialistic entitlement .

And it is common in India, Irrespective of the notion that the N, NE, W, E & SE are some how not so civil societies and Gods Own Country is totally divine. (also there is a history of power theft in Maha TN and AP, today it has lessened thanks to technology and legislation, Karnataka is a free for all today). Agreed .Capacitor banks and no load synchronous motors would be only good for individual compensation .Cant apply those things in a regional or national power grids with a single central command system,quite impractical .I think there is few HVDC projects is going on in our nation .
Main issue that we are facing now is the lack of modern power electronics base system (smart grids ).Cost and lack of facilities hampering our efforts .Applying SCR units will considerably reduce voltage drops .Due to the outdated and obsolete switching and DB systems , a lots of passive elements is mounting upon in our grids and state's EB electrical systems .Only choice is continues modernization of grids .I think Piyush Goyal is doing a good job .



Of Course .Our KSEB also faces energy theft problem.But none dares to hook in a supply line like that in some other places .If they do it ,they would do carefully ,otherwise people themselves will man handle the thieves .
