This man didn't go out of his way to shoot in a dilapidated place in India. Almost all in India's bustling cities.
Unlike the media in the United States and Japan, they like to shoot in the worst and poorest places in China and claim that this is real China.
To be honest, these media are the culprits of prejudice. Rumors about the hukou system are masterpieces of American and Japanese media. Unfortunately, ordinary Indians believe these rumors and have quarrels with Chinese. And the real rumor makers are not attacked.

有时候我觉得印度人这样确实很蠢，明明自己烂的要命还嘲笑中国人。

但仔细想想，其实全世界很多人都这个样子，很多国家的媒体都跟着西方步调。像越南也是个穷地方，却也有很多民众听信西方谣言把中国当成烂地方，如果不是中国对越南的文化输出实在厉害（感谢抖音和各种电视剧），让越南人知道一些西媒报道不可信，现在这个论坛里的越南人也会和印度人差不多。

西媒把自己对中国的偏见和谣言在全球传播，严重影响了中国的形象，不去瓦解这些西媒的公信力或者和西媒争话语权，就没法从源头上解决上面的问题。

Hukou doesn't prevent migration, it prevents the supply of welfare to migrants. Your parents moved from the countryside, but I bet your school education happened in the countryside, right?

What happens with hukou is any decision to migrate requires a pretty solid foundation before you make the move. In India, you can abandon everything and migrate to a city with no actual govt hurdles. Welfare is transferable between states.

What I'm talking about is access. If someone from India or China moves to the US, we cannot access their welfare system. This type of restriction is already present in China for rural folk. Chinese rural migrants are basically like foreign tourists in Chinese cities. That's the difference.
