It is a blessing that my ancestors left East Punjab when they did, because in their old Muslim majority districts not one Muslim was left alive.

My great grandfather literally got shanked just for being an Imam. As sad as it is, it is what convinced my family to leave Hoshiarpur, and seeing the current situation in India, his martyrdom was a blessing in disguise from Allah.

The question then remains.

Why has Pakistan closed the gates to wholescale transfer of populace?

Assuming that India has always recognised and been cognizant and accepting of Hindu and Sikh groups from both Pakistan and Bangladesh.

I agree with you, there was little logic in partition based on religion. Neither land distribution allowed millions more to migrate.

In hindsight another country should have been carved out of India, ideally in central north India bordering Nepal. This is where India is heading towards now.

But a few million will surely die. Many million more will convert. A few hundred thousand will fight back ... and get butchered. Along with a few million more reprisal killings.

Millions will stream across the border. And short of mining and machine gun nests, there will be no way to stem that human tide of misery.

The world will look away. And leave these two miserable nations to butcher it out. Expendable human fodder. Lesser than human.

My great grandfather was a large landowner and an important part of the administration of that district. He had several havelia in Hoshiarpur.

He would put through school and get jobs for underprivileged Hindus and Sikhs in that area, but when Partition happened no one thought twice about what Muslims had done to help them.

They were all fed with Sardar Patel, Tara Singh, and RSS/VHP/Bajrang Dal propaganda to kill, rape, kidnap as many Muslims as possible to expand land for India and shrink Pakistan.

The British enabled them by handing over Muslim majority districts in Punjab and to create a path for the occupation of Muslim majority Kashmir.

Modern day sikhs are racially different to modern day Pakistani Punjabis. This may not have been the case some years ago but now it is. We have been intermarrying with the tribes that are from the West of us and the sikhs have been doing the same with other indians who are alien to Pakistan. We now only share a common language with the sikhs. Nothing else. Do you have any credible evidence to prove that sindhis are racially related to the gujuratis? We have more people racially related to Afghans/Pathans but that doesn't cut it either. Pakistan may not be an ethno-state but we most certainly are not a nation for indians who happen to be Muslims.

It is interesting what happened to Rajastan.

They were somewhere in-between Muslims and Hindus as that region was in the process of conversion to Islam when British came.

Rajastanis are ethnically and culturally similar to Pakistanis of Punjab and Sindh, but it was Gandhi’s Ghar Wapsi (conversion back to Hinduism) which sealed them as Hindus.

Even now RSS/VHP/BJP/Bajrang Dal have focused heavily on this region to turn into an extremist breeding ground due to its past association with Islam.

It won’t be long before the mirage of Hindutva ideology lifts its veil to Rajastanis, and maybe then re-Islamization can commence.

Nobody said indian and Pakistanis are racially same.

My main point remains true: Pakistan was not created on the basis of ethnicity/race. It was created on the basis of Islam/Muslim identity. Had it been created in way that you want (racially/ethnically)...then Sikh Punjabis and Hindu Sindhis/Rajastanis would have more claim on it than Muslims from say Hyderabad or UP at the time. However we know that wasn't the case. Pakistan accepted Muslim immigrants from UP or Hyderabad but did not accept any Sikh demand of having Lahore with them since they were same "racial" group that was occupying Lahore.
