Yes, the chandala's were the outcastes. But there were also tribals who were avarnas, but were not a direct part of society.

You are right when you say Namastes were designed to keep physical touch to the minimum and avoid risk.

It could also be the reason why most Indian sports excel in sports that are individual events and not group events. Certainly our social evolutionary process had some role to play in that.

Oh the Hindu society is the most capitalist society out there. No doubt about it whatsoever. The govt and the system of administration that we had though was socialist. It is not the Hindu household which wrote our history books, but those Marxists and Socialists embedded in our academia who did. So the reference was to that socialist India.

Tribals were avarnas only because they were forest dwellers. Not part of society. They were free of roles and responsibilities. Should they have left their forests and become part of society then they too would have become part of varna just like all those others who came from West.

Of course. I only mention this as part of the out-castes. Avarna means one without Varna. The context is that today the status of Tribals is much worse than the status of Dalits. That is also indicative of the status of Avanras in our society. More things change, more things remain the same.
