This is not how things works in India.

Cow is sacred for Hindus in some states, but some people want religious freedom to slaughter cow, same people will kill anyone for burning Quran or making cartoons.

I would any day save a living animal over a piece of paper. I will only talk of India, i don't care whatever happens elsewhere. If Indian Muslims want Hindus to let go their superstitious beliefs, they should start chnaging them first. Some Hindus believe in cow to be sacred as much as Muslims believe Quran to be true.

So stop bothering.
I don't bother....pointing out stupidity doesn't mean I have any personal dog in the game.

.
I guess the natural progression of Alcohol would be other haram foods...once the general muslim population grows a thick skin towards alcohol they will accept other food too.
It is a tough balancing act. Alcohol is quite popular here - among all. By Indian subcontinent standards. :D
But yeah, moderation becomes important there. Touch balance. :D

Hey its your country your laws...I don't care about the Muslims of India...I make my points from an ultra-liberal(live and let live) view of society....banning other people's food because of your silly belief is still stupid...you can make it a law but it wouldn't change the fact that it is stupid.

There is no such thing and no such utopia exists. Every country has laws and not everyone in those societies agree with those laws.

It is not stupid either given how beef industry has proved to be the more environmentally damaging of all available food industries. That is science. Even ethically the idea behind not eating beef as opposed to other animals is inculcating a value of gratitude in humans for beings which work with us and for us for our survival. Hindus extend this courtesy to almost all big sized animals.

Nor is this debate about not respecting plant life but only cows.

Aren't people scared of the pork tape worm?
There are strict farming regulations and proper cooking regulations in restaurants here in the US...tapeworm isn't much of an issue if proper steps are followed.

Are you open to the idea of unforced conversions? Either way?

Why was my comment removed yet the one I replied to still stays?

Here in India we don't expect those standards. But even Leander Paes was diagnosed with infection originating from pork.

. . .
India has a civilising affect eventually over even the hard core barbarians.

India was always a land of jahils, filled with abominations and barbarity

Its only through rose tinted Hindutva glasses do you see otherwise

It only became somewhat controlled once the great muslim empires established themselves in india

The US is pretty much a utopia when it concerns personal liberty(there are issues...but they will be fixed)

There are environmental concerns for exploiting all resources...over-farming of land also have environmental consequences....does not mean we will stop farming....the scientific approach to the cattle industry would be to come up with ways to make it environmentally friendly...not giving it up entirely...are you willing to stop eating rice(or whatever your staple food is) do avoid over-farming?

But economically, meat is very costly, unless mass produced. If the population of the world keeps increasing, people will be forced to leave many meat products. Even many crops are being stressed already. Lab grown meat may have a future in the long run.
