I have witnessed 'jamaats' in speeding trains, and flying airplanes, while totally ignoring the comfort of the other passengers. We are a society of ignorants, extremists, and inconsiderate people, who believe in getting everything, but returning no favors..
I see that people doing things on purpose, they are even sadistic . I see a serial smiles on some people sometimes because they know that no one dare question them out of fear for blasphemy.
people know me to bash deobandis and wahabis a lot so I will write something about shais and beralvis as well what i witnessed
#there was a news about a family belonging to deobandi faith that was facing blasphemy charges for what?
In your face devotion #1
hear this out. someone on purpose and knowing too well that the family is deobandi and not as keen as sunnis about celebrating Milad Nabi PBUH posted a huge poster on the front door of the house somewhere in Punjab (sorry forgot the city)
- the act itself was malicious, it was done to cause a negative reaction so there was no intention of showing devotion to Muhammad PBUH
- the poster was posted without permission on a private property
- the act was done to bait the family
as expected the male member of the family removed the poster from his gate and while he was at it, he was set upon by a group of zealots with apparent devotion for Muhammad PBUH... eventually he was facing charges of Blasphemy for disrespecting Muhammad PBUH... (as usual the news papers didnt follow up on the news last year and moved on to next sensational story, I think the charges were dropped)

during my deployment in Azad Kasmir in National Guards we were sent to a village for Muharram duties. Azad Kashmir so far has escaped the wrath of Deobandi terrorism but it was one of those years when rest of Pakistan was not so fortunate time was early years of second term of Nawaz Sherif and since we had a truck of shia jawans as well attending the moharam procession so I we were told by the CO to take section of troops to patrol the procession route and keep any agitation under control.
the problem was that the only route of procession had a madrasah belonging to deobandi school as well and community members, police, an army major and AC met to ensure that all was done peacefully. shia organizers promised that they will keep their people under control while passing near the madrassah respect Azan, stop the matam and go quietly. there were complaints of spitting, stone and trash throwing and cursing from the rooftops of the madrasah in the past which had caused some disturbances in the past so we got the guarantee from the Madrasah admin that there will be no provocation from their side and army will be escorting the procession.
apart from some eye balling and few taunts it went peacefully until there was azan and matam was stopped and procession told by organizers to sit down and pray/ wait for the Azan to finish before it could continue and everyone was specially requested not to antagonize the madrasah and avoid anything provocative.
but as we all know not all men are equal and same applies to all communities. a known trouble maker suddenly stood up went in front of the madrassah and started beating his chest forcefully, sunnis or shias alike it was clear that there was no devotion or mourning for the slaughter of Prophet Muhammad PBUH's family at the hands of yazidi forces but pure malice to cause a reaction, we were radioed about it and got ready wile the police also tensed up. the organizers rushed to the guy first trying to convince him by talking to him to stop and then holding his hands, he violently flailed them away and continued until the reaction he was banking on actually happened when someone threw a glass bottle near him and shouts started from the madrasah as some young energetic students made beheading and shooting gestures towards the procession.
satisfied that his job was done he turned back to the rest of the procession (maybe inwardly smiling to himself) we and the organizers rushed up to defuse the tension and get the procession moving quietly for few hundred yards. one of the jawans slapped the guy hard on the face making him hit the ground and there was a silent approval from the rest of the procession.
later we were told that he was one of the few trouble makers who had a compulsive obsessive disorder to do exactly the opposite to anything that was decided by the community to keep the peace in the village.
sorry for the long story.. just highlighting that how sometimes we can use faith, race and other customs as a cover just to tease others. Prophet Muhammad PBUH 's saying fits so well that "actions depend upon the intention" , now I cant tell what this family in New York had in mind but for sure I can tell that intentions of the people in the two incidents I quoted were not very noble.
